Drink some water, stay away from sodium, eat some veg, take a dump.

Don't agree with the glycogen theory. Eg, where did the sugar come from? Why would heavy lifting encourage that more than hypertrophy training?

Caffeine has a diuretic effect so it should do the opposite

Do you keep track of your hip, quad, waist, chest, etc measurements Rooibul? The mirror and scales can mess with your head, especially if you're upping your water intake.

Thanks Hormanas noted.

Hi Eid. Yeah waist and middle and qauds I keep track of I also measure body fat. But can water retention also influence the body fat measurements I think it can.
All my muscles look bigger biceps triceps delta and pecs and qauds only calves look flat. So I don't know what the hell my body is doing bulking on a cut

I pick up 3-4kg within a week of starting creatine, and about the same after a cheat day :D

Give it a few weeks. It's not a sprint, and things will probably even out. I'm not so sure about the waist expansion so much though. Ase you sure your diet is on point and your tdee calc accurate?

Yeah diet has been clean and on point. BMR and Maintenance was posted in the 1st post of this thread. My BMR and Maintenance was calculated using Body fat % and K McArdle formula. Please advise if you suspect I have those wrong?

Yeah...it doesn't look like you applied any activity multiplier to your BMR to get your TDEE, such as:

1.200 = sedentary (little or no exercise)
1.375 = light activity (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week)
1.550 = moderate activity (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week)
1.725 = very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week)
1.900 = extra active (very hard exercise/sports and physical job)

So (1971 x one of the above) - 500 ;) Looks like your body is in starvation mode. It will also be tough to hold on to muscle unless you eat more.

So to be modest and safe can go with 1.375?

Ideally you should match it to your daily activity, but yeah, see what an extra 300-400 calories do for you. Obviously trim it down if you're taking the weekend off and spending it in front of the TV :D

Google TDEE calculator - there's loads of them out there.

@ Eidolon,

I bit confused now. I cook up 1 kg of chicken at night for the following day.
Well it weighs 1kg frozen and about the same when defrosted.
After its been cooked (sauce pan or pressure cooker) it only weighs 600 - 660grams.
I then do my calculations according to the cooked weight because the rest of the weight, to me, was water and brine.
What is your take or advice on this?
Thanks

@Jono, the nutritional values on packaging and most diet apps use raw weights for meat because cooking methods and times can have varying effects on fluid loss.

1kg of chicken breast may end up weighing 600g if you grill it to death in the oven, 650g when you cook it, or 750g when you boil it. You're right that it still contains roughly the same amount of fat and protein, but your method is more complicated than mine because you have to weigh twice.

My butcher cuts chicken breasts into parcels of either 200g or 250g pieces for me, so I don't have to weight them ever. You need to know what your chicken pieces weigh raw, and then weigh them again once cooked when you dish up :P

However, if Rooibul was eating 1kg cooked chicken, he'd be getting in ~40% more calories than you ;)

Dankie Eidolon,

It is on you. It always has been...

Thanks tjom,
Ek is net nie lus vir die skoon maak nie so die chicken breast werk vir my.
Sal netmweer gaan loer.
