Rhino, I hope things are going well for you man. I'm 24 (and currently struggling to bloody walk even) and this has been quite a terrifying experience, but this thread and wealth of information and support has made me feel pretty positive and hopeful about things. I'm holding thumbs for you man, I hope your recovery will end up inspirational for me

Anyway basically I have to go back next Friday once he's had a look at the MRI to see what needs to be done. He did say it's a flip of a coin if I ever have full recovery from the muscle waisting in my rear delt because the nerve has been trapped for such a long time while I've been trying to find this issue. I'll be giving HGH a try post op to see if that has any help.
I'll post the MRI as soon as I get it and I'll let you no how things go next Friday, I've also made an appointment with a second Neuro on the following Monday for a second oppinion..

I'm sure once I'm sorted it'll be amazing being able to give it horns because I've been training around this for longer than I'd care to remember now.

On the a bright side he did put my mind at ease, it's 3 to 4 days in hospital and I'll be able to be back in gym after 2 weeks
I've been given some decent drugs to deal with the pain and inflammation, I told him that I'm on cycle and he suggested that I finish my cycle and pct and then do the OP in the beginning of Jan which I'm thrilled with because Nov/Dec are my 2 busiest months of the year and with the op only being in Jan I'll be just over 2 months post pct so all should have stabilized by then.'
Luckily with it being the cervical spine weight limitations don't apply post op as they would had it have been my lower back and for now I can train as normal just no squats or deadlifts.

I'm actually excited about having it done now, it's going to be like being a new person in the gym for years I've thought it was a rotator cuff issue so it really had limited my training. It's just nice to no what the problem that's been plaguing me for years off and on has been and that it can finally be sorted.

I don't really no what to do he may be able to squeeze me in next month but I'll be starting PCT at the end of September and I'm worried that with my BF being so low if I'm on my back for 2 weeks I won't be able to follow a proper pct or eat so I'll just waist away. Nov/Dec are out of the question as they are my busiest months of the year. The only alternative is to delay the Op until Feb/March.
The pain is no were near as bad as it was and is manageable I just don't want to put it off to long. What do you guys recon?

As stated you said recovery time aint very long, so just have it done, try to keep up the cals as much as possible, and whatever weight you lose, is nothing compared to the improvement in your lifestyle.
Size aint everything bud, sacrifice a small bit, which you can regain quickly, and know that disc is sorted and wont give you further kak

Pain free for the first time in well over 3 months..!
Obviously the disc is still fucked but the nerve must have come free. I've just started PCT and not only did I beat my on cycle lifts on Monday for chest but I managed to do Pull ups today for the first time since it it went.
I'm still going to having the Procedure as I no it'll happen again but just be worse next time as that's been the cycle. But bring on PCT

My doc has said for now, while the pain is acute, I should take it as easy as I can, doing a couple of crunches every day being careful to target my abs only. Do you have an opinion here? I'm quite partial to planks over crunches...

If it's your lower back I'd avoid crunches because you'll be putting strain on your thoracic spine and you don't want that. It all depends on what's actually wrong with the discs if you need surgery or disc replacment I'd avoid any excersises that could make the problem worse remember this your spinal cord your talking about!!!! Everything comes off it..! with my nerve being trapped it's effected my whole left shoulder gurdle.
Good luck Bud just avoid unnessasary further damage. If your targeting weight loss I'd stick to cardio, face it any gains you make now you'll just loose while recovering from surgery
