If your goal is still weight loss, it has more to do with dietary habits than overall activity and working out.

You can cut cheaply. Are you still interested in LCHF/ Keto? IF also makes things simple.

@Furk, I'm still interested in LCHF/Keto. It's more simple for me, i get to weigh everything myself, i know my calories etc, i enjoy it and i get huge results, i do the cooking myself etc.

I can cook separate meals, but the thing is with mostly black africa homes, when it comes to food, its it more carb and fat oriented then little potion of any kind of meat. I think thats in most families in South Africa regardless of their race.

I might be complicating things?

No I understand you completely bud. The things is, carbs are the most sustainable food macro, so they are cheap compared to quality protein and stand-alone fats (think of coconut oil, or nuts). What I do to cut costs when eating like this is: Liver, eggs and 100% mince. If you need loads of calories you can buy peanuts too. Top off with veggies.

Thanks Furk, I think that helps a lot. Where do you get 100% mince? Is it ok to get the extra lean from Pic n pay something like that?

100% mince means mince meat that doesn't contain cereal or fillers etc. Extra-Lean mince is moer expensive per kilo. Rather buy Lean mince and run boiling water over a strainer of some sort.

Hey bro,
Make a list of everything you need to buy when you get paid and buy that before anything else. That way even when you run out of money you have everything that you need!
And stay motivated. Every day is one step closer to your dream!

Thanks Nate. I will try that. It is just a minor setback. Me and my wife we are adjusting from dating, then getting married, buying a house, having a baby, pay for day care this and that, list is endless. But all will be well eventually. For my list this month:

Fats:
Canola oil
Sunflower Oil
Heavy cream
Mayonnaise
Peanut butter
Cheese

Protein:
Chicken thighs & drum sticks
Chicken livers
Lean pork cuts
Beef chuck (was still comparing prices on this one)
Bacon
Eggs

Carbs:
Broccoli
Lettuce
Other green vegetables low in carbs

Biggest issue was the meat, its not cheap anymore.

Well done bro. Its always easier to budget if you just write it down.
Meat is ridiculous yeh. I bought a few veal chops yesterday and it almost broke the bank.

Buy chicken fillets in quantity instead and then bag them in plastic in the freezer. It works out much cheaper that way.

But stay motivated and eat as clean as you can bro. Life happens so sometimes we just need to focus on the basics in order to not flip out.

+1 for the effort.

bms keep your head up.

I've also experienced these ups and downs and changes in finances.

Although I'm back on my feet proper, I still buy organ meats like beef, sheep, & chicken livers. Also chicken giblets and hearts. Plenty protein and super cheap. That way a reduction in the highest quality protein sources doesn't mean you need to abandon your practices completely.

Also when gym subscriptions are an issue, run/walk and do pushups at home. Just stay active.

I also got sad and fat when I was broke. Add some IF to your eating plan and do what you can to stay active.

Oh - eat a shit load of eggs.

Chemical experiment in progress....

Thanks for sharing. I guess it a mental thing, i thought i was alone. When your ducks are not in a row as you would like, you get demotivated, sad and fat as you said. I got another gym membership last week. So not ao bad anymore. Food wise, its still a struggle. But I'll get there.

For me its all or nothing, that was my approach, but life happens and i needed to accept that and adjust accordingly.

Hi guys

You're on the Keto Diet, before the week ends you have that bad breath/weird taste in your mouth and you decide to take the Keto Sticks and check before bed.

Then the stick comes out position. Yey my body has adapted. In the morning, you take another test and it's negative.

What causes that? Or whats the reason for that? Is it something you ate for dinner? Why is that?

Don't stress too much about the ketosticks. I've found they're only indicative, not absolute. You're not the first person to have negative results while being in ketosis. Ketosticks measure ketones being excreted by your system, that means excess, highly possible that you're using ketones without passing out surplus. Hope it helps.

reason for suspending Keto, i'm going to be doing a lot of travelling and i won't have much control of what is cooked and what was put in. Therefore I will be kinda forced to eat carbs again and I will regain the weight, so rather adjust now and keto later next year

Do you want me to crit? You mention the foods don't add up to desired macros, that means back to the drawing board.

Crit! Suggest! I have added more rice, about 500g, 500g Sweet potato, and the food is just huge when I'm dishing it, feel like I'm over eating.

Hey BMS

Why the high amount of carbs?

Dude you have to try to meet your goals at least. At work I've instructed the cooks to prepare my meat separately. At courses where a lunch is included I tell them before the time I cannot eat certain foods, and to make it easy for them all they have to prepare for me is grilled chicken and broccoli everyday for a week. As for aeroports and flying: don't eat that in-flight garbage. The exception is if you are flying an airline where you can choose meals/allergies before the time. (Malaysia airlines are great in this regard) Don't doubt peoples willingness to accommodate you and also don't settle for second best.

I am not sure if you are trolling or being serious. Just because you can't do keto, doesn't meen you must make carbs staple. You can easily pull of LCHF.
