A headache in your first week of keto is normal, as is the lack of energy and light headedness. Your body will take a little while to switch to full ketosis and thus provide all the energy it needs from fats. Remember, you are asking your body to stop burning its usual fuel, bein carbs, and start burning a new fuel, fats... This transition cant happen overnight so at first your body will battle to find enough energy, hence the headaches and shitty feeling, this is because your blood sugar is low. As your body starts to become more efficient at converting fats into energy it will be able to keep a steady blood sugar and find enough energy.

The reason this transition takes time is otherwise everytime you have a day where your diet is lacking or different, eg no carbs, your body would switch its metabolism. Consistancy is key. Give it some time and you'll be great

Um, but im scared of needles...

I just wanted to know a few things, and I'm stopping for nothing! If things go good, and i hope they will, i wanna start building my body to the max!

Maybe enter in some comps, who knows. Years of training ahead, i know, but i cant stop looking at DJ's Before and after thread, that thread along! keeps me going. :woohoo:

I still feel the same though, the only thing i have is a headache, i don't feel any different, maybe its taking longer for me to latch onto this Keto diet

DJ if i were you i would start to worry :haha

Well stick to it buddy you wont be dissapointed.

Question:

Talk around these forums and the email from DJ, say that i should not be going over 120bpm when on the Keto diet.

Now, tonight, i was checking my heat rate after doing a set of leg press, my heart rate was up to 135bpm.

Is this ok? or am i over doing things? or is it don't go over 120bpm for a long period of time (ie. Cardio)

Don't go over 120 for a long period of time such as cardio. That's why you want to try keep your reps 6-8 (10 max)and be out the gym within an hour

Hmmm even the sugar free gums have like one gram carb per gum so it does add up. Since ketones are acidic, maybe try rennies, might neutralise the ketones but dont suck on them after you eat or you are going to neutralise the stomach acid. Otherwise get smints

Hehe, back with some more questions and a little update B)

Right, so i went to Dischem and bought some more stock for the diet (OMFG! Saved myself R480!)

Although, i got a fight when i bought my Psyllium Husks (Health Connection Wholefoods brand) when i found worms in it! Took it back and i got another one (new stock came in that day)

Also, got myself a bottle of that Ketostix (R75, ouch!)
But i have no idea if its good or bad from my test i took
just now. (Pic attached)

Also, jumped on the old scale today, from 101/102 down to 95/96  Happy with the results, although gonna way myself again at gym, just to make sure. (almost two weeks into Keto)

NOW! Cheat meat coming up :D Can i eat anything? or is there some things i should still stay away from? I was thinking of getting Pizza and other bits from Scooters or a Johny's Rottie and other bits

jeanf basically with a cheat meal u want to keep it packed full of carbs but the protien and fats low,cos as u have worked out that protein in combination of fat slows down digestion hence the reason u havent been so hungry etc on my diet...so what u wanna do for your cheat meal is keep the cheat to less fats and protein more carbs, jelly babies, biscuits, oven bake chips, pastas, bagels, white bread, waffles, pancakes, anything that is low in fat high in sugar and low in protien, u can try getting down a johnnies but i can put money on it u will get half way through and feel sick....

Yeah, i had a feeling that johnnies would be a battle ;)

Also, its this a good sign that I'm full Ketosis ? I marked that color the test went for me. I just dont understand the the numbers and stuff associated with the color.

this has been discussed before,u obviously are burning all your ketones up hence the reason for the not excreting them in your urine, dont worry about it to much bud :) if u are full of energy then u are in ketosis :)

that pic shows ur in ketosis, where it is is good, you dont really want it to go any darker otherwise your the pH of your body becomes far too acidic, even the second one from neg is fine but if it shows negative u can still be in ketosis. by the way, what time did u take the test and did u have water or train before you took it etc...just curious

Awesome!

took the test at 15:56 or around there. And i had not had water since lunch time (13:00pm)

although, i took another test this morning, first thing and it was the a little lighter than the one i took before.

But this is good, at least i know i am in ketosis now :D although, i dont seem to have more energy than i usually have and i still have the damn headache :(

suppose i need to wait a little longer for it to go.

If you are almost 2 weeks in, you shouldn't have headaches. Are you drinking enough water?...sounds like you might be a bit dehydrated. Your energy levels will pick up soon. The test is usually lighter if you take it in the mornings.
