Ok - Day two complete.
It might be mental but I really feel like I lost already. Like I said it might be mental.
I battled to get up this morning and to battle up the steps, legs were a bit stiff from yesterday.
Food was a little more inline today. I am busy trying to find more things to add to the list.
I have heard my diet is bad - because of some dairy but its not a big deal it seems. Everywhere I read for Keto diets had dairy on the list - you have to really watch the carbs though which I cam doing.
Beesting had me add pnut butter which is a win and Mac nuts are going to help me make the fat tomorrow at work.
Cardio 6:30 - 45 min at 1 incline 5.5 pace - felt ok. A little weaker than yesterday.
15:00 - Shoulders / Traps - 3 sets of 6 DB Presses - 3 sets of 6 side reverse flys - 3 sets of 6 shrugs - 3 sets of 6 plates raises (just used the 25kg plate)
Food Going to bed early so only 5 meals today. -

Spinach looks to be a GREAT option at 2.2g per 100g carbs (cooked) will be adding that.

Well since is this is a source for future dieters I thought I might add my experiences. If you consider it a highjack then it can be moved.

First let me say that I am not carbohydrate sensitive, and I'm actually a little intolerant to certain fats in my diet. So this is probably a very bad dieting option for me, but I figure whats two months to give the old cyclic ketosis diet a bash. Never done it before (never needed to)... I am not using any anabolic compounds or thermogenic stimulants for this test run.

Right, so I decided to go with 4 weeks of a higher saturated fat content(because its cheaper and yum) and then switch to healthier fats. I've gone down to maintainance calories, and even lower. Either way I was always hungry all day. In the first week of the weight loss diet I put on 1kg, and after four weeks I put on around 2kg's.

Strength has stayed the same, recovery is a little slower though, and endurance as well. I monitored ketosis where I could with the sticks. Usually I can only get a good result first thing in the morning, after that I usually read as negative, probably due to increased water intake and burning excess ketones as DJ Squirrel Man suggested elsewhere (since lowering water and increasing exercise result in better read-outs). The only carb I have all day is from nuts, brocoli or cauliflower, and the cream I put in my decaf coffee ;)

I was having 15g-20g carb after workouts but this definately impacting negatively on ketosis, throwing me out for several hours. I now don't have any carb post workout, and on occassion this can make me feel very ill for an hour or two post gym. I have a ton of ridiculous carb on Sundays, starting with fruit, moving to pastas and brown rice, and finishing with short sugary goodies. I drop back into ketosis sometime on Monday.

Anyways, most important message is continue to learn from your body, the most important thing to learn with AAS or diet or anything BB is how your body personally reacts to what you do to it... The immortal saying different strokes!
I will continue to run in ketosis and continue to manipulate it to see how different aspects affect my body.

Sorry if I offend you

Hey Hulkie, dont worry, I wasnt accusing u of hijacking the thread, I just didn't want it to become that and I wasn't trying to blow off your question either. You do have a point though, I am aware that peanut butter contains saturated fats and you do want to keep them to a minimum for obvious reasons. You can opt for macadamia nut oil if you can afford it but it is a bit pricy. Peanut butter is much cheaper though, its also free of trans fatty acids which are also not good for your health, but its a cheaper alternative to get those few extra garms of fat into the diet. A table spoon isn't going to have drastic effects on your health and it takes away the cravings for sweets and carbs. But I would rather opt for unsaturated oils such as macadamia oil. This oil is great because its quality is not affected when it is heated either.

Inja, i have been reading the Anabolic solution diet book By Mauro G. Di Pasquale, B.Sc., M.D., M.R.O., M.F.S. which has been great reviews on alot of the forums on T-Nation buy the way this diet is on 50-60% fat 30-40% Protien and 30grams carbs with a card load evey 5 to 12 days depending on your goals and it states that:

Another good time to take your carbs is after exercising. For a few hours after exercise there is a window of opportunity when hormonal factors are just right for rebuilding muscle. Taking carbohydrates during this time period spikes insulin levels and increases protein synthesis, thus maximizing the effects exercise has on strengthening and toning your body.

This is oviously note a keto diet then? Thanks.

Hey Beesting,

Thanks, been doing Keto for a while and had success in past.

Agree on PB. Thats why the only option is the Yellow Lid Black Cat - No added sugar and salt and NO HYDROGENATED FATS ;) ;)

Keto Day 3 - Ouch! I woke up with a sore back out of the blue. Stabbing sharp pain! Must be a nerve or something.
Two Myprodol and a Dictaflam hardly touched the pain.
Good thing is was an off/ off day.
Back at the gym in the morning. I didnt get my 6 meals today only 5.
Macros are ok so far I think I must be getting close if not in Keto state now (how do I tell).
Here are the meals for today.

You will know you're in ketosis when your appetite calms down and you stop feeling sluggish and tired all the time. You will also start feeling a lot stronger in the gym too.

Ok I see a problem. The 60g of macadamia nuts in one go is a no no. That's 8g of carb in one go. Try having 30g at a time and the remainder 30g later on in the day. Also try keep the nuts for post workouts, I know u didn't gym today though but dont rely on the nuts too much. Second mistake is take out the pick n pay lite margarine, no margarine on keto diets, replace all margarine with butter. Also with the cabbage, try having half the amount (50g) at a time and the other half later. i was thinking that you could have german sauerkraut (made by Mildessa) instead of the cabbage, carb values are 1.5 g per 100g sauerkraut

No worries this thread was jacked a long time ago - but like everything else I do:
I will persist!
:D
Will do Beesting. (You Rock BTW)
TBH the nuts at once was because I was in a car on the way to a meeting and got stuck - so i downed them all at once.
I also am looking to get rid of them all together and just get some oil or something I can just swallow.
Cabbage was a leftover option - I am going to switch to spinach.
Of what would you suggest to add to my diet GREENS wise.

Hey endomorph.

I think 60g of peanut butter (around 4T) has way to much carb for one serving. Spread this out throughout the day. Instead of 6 jumbo egg whites which you are having at night(which I assume has around 36 g P, although you mention it has 24g) have another protein or you are gonna get sick of the eggs. Keep the eggs for the morning but if you like eggs that much then go ahead and have them. Otherwise it looks good to me. If you are still hungry, dont feel bad for increasing some cals here and there cos you can get some extras in depending on your goals but you should feel satisfied after each meal

Greens: brocolli and spinach. Those two are pretty nutritious in terms of iron content compared to other veggies and low carb. Caulifolwer isn't green but its also a low carb veggie. Those veggies are your best bet. You can also add in celery :X as that's low carb too :X. And lettuce with cucumber but no tomatoes

bro u can make your food so much more intesting like instead of having peanut butter with your egg whites why not have full eggs, yes there is some saturated fats but there is so much goodness in the egg yolks, u dont need to have only chicken and oils u can have whey isolate and peanut butter or nuts as there are minimal carbs and of those carbs depending on the nuts 75% of it is fiber which u will need with in your diet. do your cardio before your first meal and make sure u eat something before lifting, the 40g of trace carbs u will be getting in you will burn those up in the high intensity work outs but make sure the cardio is under 120bpm...

It is still a cyclic keto diet. Some people can handle the carb after training if they respond well. Others get knocked out of keto for some time with even 20g after intense training. Like any diet it must be tweaked for the individual
