Yeah probably...
Good to change up every now and then, but when you return to squatting you realise how badass they really are!

Hence the reason I say start with leg extensions, pre exhaust the quad before you start with squats, leg press, etc...

just to note, squats are not for everyone!! if you are very tall like me 6'4 it can be a movement that just doesn't agree with your body, hence once again the reason I pre exhaust the muscle, so when I do squat, mostly hack and front squats I really target my legs properly without the severe impact on my knee's, and lower back, etc...

it is the same with triceps, I can push some serious weights with a bar, but if I do lateral raises first and pre exhaust my shoulders before hand then I do not need that same amount of weight and I feel it more the next day and during the session, my surrounding muscles normally give up before the actual muscle i'm targeting.. you really need to stay focused when you do this, to actually make note that your surrounding muscles are failing and not to think its the actual muscle your training.

just to make a note, I do recomend squats to those that do not suffer from knee and back issues.

Thats one exercise i love is Squats but i do like your idea pump of exhausting the muscle first on extensions and then moving onto squats. the only machine i suffer Knee problems on is the leg press, have no idea but i think its just the movement so i cant do leg press.

Hey thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated hey.:)

wrap your knees, its helped me a lot....

like pump i'm quite tall but a kidney belt and wrapping the knees for support has made a diference when doing squats and leg press....

I had bad lower back problems and something else that seems to have worked for me was stretching it out... lie on your back, bring your legs up while keeping them straight and have someone push them as far as they can go.... since i've gotten more flexible never had lower back pain again... Guess it depends what cause the pain but maybe it will help someone.....

Deadlift.

You need a strong back to do a strong squat.

True, some days I go into the gym and for back the only thing I do is deadlifts, 8/10 sets...

When I really got serious about gym back in the day, the advice I was given by a huge mofo was to always include the major compounds in my training.

Squat
Deadlift
Bench
Military press
Pull-ups / Chins
Rows

From those core movements I have expanded my routine over the years...
(But I still hate Deadlifts)

I love deadlifts, squats and clean and press.

I agree about deadlifts.... Use to be scared of it because of the problems I had with lower back but it seems to have helped as well.... Like Inja said.....

You are probably fucked after that. I would pass out if I had to do more than 6 sets of heavy deadlifts.

i did heavy deadlifts last week friday, obviously little 2 heavy and hadnt done it for a while, well on saturday i could not sit down or drive without being in pain, my wife was getting a little worried, i kept saying no pain no gain.
We went out for dinner on saturday night i was so uncomfortable i had to order dinner standing up, actually had to stand up for some time , eventually found a comfortable way of sitting with my right leg straight out so i could eat my dinner.
Anyway was quiet funny, sunday felt better monday back to normal.
Was not so bullish yesterday doing deadlifts.

Also if you dont deadlift with good form you can really fuck yourself up. Once lower back is fucked thats that have couple of mates that had lower back injuries from heavy deadlifts and squats. They not even small guys both are over 100 kgs
