Rollie porn! Feel the Test is kicking in now, basically getting a Hard-on!
But yes, if you can handle the recoil on that one, you will make a wind tunnel through a perp's chest cavity!

I have 38spl snubnose (short barrel as above pic), 357 magnum 6inch bbl and 44 Mag 6inch barrel. I love shooting with the 44, it does not have much recoil, even at +P loads.
The 38 with short barrel is okay, but my wrists start to hurt after a 100 or so rounds due again to the snappy recoil. But for SD carry it is fine, I doubt if I will shoot until my wrists are sore in a SD situation

@ SV, very interesting read...Agree with the 223, awesome to shoot, easy enough to handle. I don't need anything more than that to be honest.

I got offered the 7mm at a Very good price and so I went with that. it is the Howa 1500 stainless 7mm Rem Mag which what I've read will be good for long range as well as hunting if need be.
Thanks for the Advice SV,at the moment I've phoned all the gun shops I could get hold of and pretty much my choices were .308 or 7mm in stainless and for the range Im looking to push to eventually.
I'm studying all info I can get on balistics and bullet weights etc so that when I get my rifle Ill be able to start practicing immediately!
SV, is the 7mm in your experience a good or bad decision?

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.

The key is practice, and to be familiar with your weapon.
Also, as a tip, do not motivate for self defence, as you need A LOT of paperwork etc to prove it. I also have it on confidential terms that success rate of SD motivations are not that high, whereas you motivate it for backup during hunting etc, it would be approved more easily.
also see ifyou can join an accreditated hunting/sport shooting organization, get them to endorse your motivation, that way you are again improving your chances greatly of the license to be approved.
For your rifle, and the animals that you would shoot, i would suggest a 223 Remington. Great calibre, flat shooting, hard hitting power. Ammo is readily available from shops, if you want to reload, brass etc is easy to come by. You can easily take down up to kudu with this calibre if your shot placement is good.
Low recoil rifle, does not induce flinching. I use my 223 Rem for shooting out to 400m easily.
Sorry would have to disagree on this one, a .243 win is a much better option than the 223.

Congrats! Great Buy!
7mm is great rifle, do not get me wrong.
I would suggest you start with reduced loads and get used to the recoil etc, then increase the loads to what you want. That way you will not learn to flinch, which is any long range hunter's biggest enemy.
Happy shooting, let me know if you need any info. Also see if you can study Quickload etc, nodes, barrel harmonics etc.

I agree, a 243 will ourperform any 223. It is just how it was made. The same with 308 vs 375. But the question was for a lady, and what she would be comfortable with. For us big men, the 243 does not have much in terms of recoil, however, from the 223 to the 243 there is a significant jump in recoil. Now the question is, will she shoot up to 400m? No, Up to 200m, yes. Which rifle would be best suited, given all round performance and low recoil? The 223. Again shotplacement is critical, as well as the bullet that will be used.

All your arguments are valid, and I get what you are saying that its easy to just play a "name a larger rifle game"
My sister prefers using a 270 win and shes at 55kg.
shot placement is critical, but with that argument you can justify using a .22
Recently I have found that sound makes just as large contribution to flinching as recoil.
Therefore I would up on the caliber and strap on one of these puppies moosesuppressor.com/index.php?siteid=160&pageid=3
Ive seen boys of 6 to 9 use a 270win and a kid of 12 use a 300win when using this suppressor.
Basically I feel that the .223 is a 'biekie lig in die broek' and that you underestimate how much recoil the ladies can handle.
would then also still recommend a 22-250 over 223

Also, dont you think that the 22-250 is a "loopvreter"? For that amount of money you can go the 25-06 route, since you have to rebarrel after 1000-2000 shots.
I have a couple of frieds (do contract culling and varminting) which now has acquired the 204Ruger. The cant praise it enough, small caliber, no recoil, shoots zebras and is accurate up to 400m.
What is your thoughts on this calibre?

I remember from previous topics that we have some firearm experts on here.
So to my story. I'm looking for a 9mm that I can carry everyday and can also double as a sport/fun shooter over weekends. I have my sights set (no pun) either a CZ P-07 Duty or a Glock 19. My heart is leaning heavily to the CZ due to its amazing feel in my hand and the look is very cool. I do not like the safety on the Glocks and i also do not like the trigger pull. My ultimate is the H&K P30 but i'm not prepared to pay that kind of money for a 9mm.

If you want something a tad heavier and for doubling as a sport shooter, S&W 40 is a good option.
But for defense nothing beats a .45.
S&W .45 compact very nice. It comes std with a tactical rail allowing for laser sights etc without needing specialist machining.
Other than that, some very nice Compact .45's out there.
Good thing about a .45 is that no matter where you hit someone, they ARE going down.

9mm is perfect for what you want, .45 can be a big cost jump if you are putting rounds through it regularly.

U basically answered urself bro lol. Go with what's comfortable to u. Both are very good manufacturersand there will be people who advocate one over the other and vice versa. If I was you I would chose the cz based on what u said above.

I like the safety and how they feel. Go for what is most comfortable.

I have a 45ACP, and I love it. Shot the 9mm and 40, both great calibers. But the 45 is awesome. My wife also shoots it (she did not even want to shoot my 38spl rollie), but she loves the 45. Recoil is nice, and if you use it for SD, It will make a massive hole. Bigger is better, especially when someone is unwanted in your house.
Good luck, and enjoy!
And if you want to, get a Lee Pro 1000 press, and you can reload bullets esily 500 per hour!
