Scirrocco R, R32 Golf, SLK 55 AMG was created by Koe007
So im bored with my GTI time to upgrade the above 3 is what I am drawn to whats the general consensus on the above vehicles, The R32 and Scirroco I would get new and the SLK 55 AMG is a 2007 model with 61000km on the clock at the same price as the other 2. Im truly perplexed, what would you choose in that price range R400K?

i would go for the R32 or rocc (doubt the merc would come with a motor plan / warranty)

pain is just temporary...

The R32 is phenomenal, growls, handles very well with the 4 wheel drive, Scirroco looks better than the R32 and handles better even though its a 2 wheel drive.
None of them Growl like the SLK 55 AMG, way too much Power for such a small vehicle, I feel like im showing off in it but who cares. The only thing with the SLK is as mentioned the Motorplan, complete risk to own a performance car without a M/Plan.

Rocco for sure! I love the look of that car and the road is not riddled with them like they are with golf 6's. If you want big power look at buying a chev lumina ;) won't go wrong with that, just gotta see what u can afford,ps koe seeing u are buying fancy cars your fee's just trippled ;) haha just kidding.

Good luck tryna find a ROC R. They are scarce. I just bought a golf 35 edition gti last month and I love it. Got it for 400k full spec manual. Its the same motor as the R just detuned but like 50 k cheaper spec dependant. Its the same ecu as well so just some software and ill run the R silly. If u talking about the golf R32 (golf 5) shape then that car isn't worth it as that 3.2 V6 doesn't deliver performance expected. Rememebr I have had a scirocco in 2010 and it doesn't have chrome pedals, bonnet shock(just bonnet rod) no coat or holding handles on the roof lining above windows. The centre console just has two cup holder holes so the gti is a better speced car. If you are taking a new one though, u must have the rcd 510 touchscreen option and bluetooth. That's a must

You would still be worth every penny ;)

It's the Golf 6 R, I'm a preferred customer so they can get me either, which Scirocco did you have?

I had the manual 2,0T. But they all like that. Golf 6 R is a winner. Just make sure it doesn't have the recaro seats. Apart from them being 25k they kak uncomfortable. I hear there is a 6 month waiting on the Roc R

The R32 is a bit heavy in front and compromises handling.
The Scirocco is very very sexy and would be my choice.
The SLK is a very nice little car but getting on in years and the looks are slightly dated vs. newer models.

The Merc vs. the VW's are very different cars.
The Merc is a drivers car but for all in plus a bit of swinging dick the Scirocco.

Hey KOE! I am also car shopping atm for that exact price range. Must say it definitely brings out the little boy in me. :silly: haha! In my mind in that price range there is one clear winner- BMW 135i. You can get it second hand with 20000kms on the clock with full motorplan up to 100000kms or 5 years. That way everything except tyres is their kak. Also plan on putting a plug and play performance chip into the mix. Then it's almost as fast as the M1. :silly:

About the Merc- Even though I am BMW pedigree through and through I have my respect for the Merc's upper range. The SLK 55 AMG is a BEAST and by far the best car of all of those. But unfortunately no Motorplan means big risk and therefore big trouble. Firstly you are gonna need to cough up atleast R7k for a standard service. Then you will probably drive the thing like you stole it so that's R4000 per tyre if you are lucky. And you will probably get about 16L/100kms. Ouch! But that's not the issue. The issue is what happens when something goes wrong with the engine... I hope you have atleast R25k in your savings account for that. And a proper blow up will be like R100k. Eina! O ja and a scratch on the paint is R5k. A bump is R15k depending where. These are optimistic prices btw.

KOE. What's the discount they giving you. I would need to get the quote from you and then speak to my guys. The dynaudio system really isn't worth the bucks. If I played my standard system and if you heard the dynaudio, u won't be able to tell the difference. Or I couldn't anyways. Are you looking at dsg as well. At 455k, I assume you are. Remember nobodys willing to give discount on the R or 35 edition. I'm sure I can get between 3 and 4 percent. Settlement on your car shouldn't be too hard as that mileage is low for a 6 year old car.

Ja so I would need ur quote. Not sure how we gonna do that
