"Its a sad day for me as I announce that after the 2012 bodybuilding season, I will be RETIRING from competitive bodybuilding. Its obviously my goal to end my career with another Pro win and a top 10 feature at the Mr. Olympia. After this season my focus will be 100% on Dohne Nutrition and on building a stable life for my gorgeous son Jett. Today with the help of my trainer George Farah I start my diet for Tampa where I will be defending my title of last year. I hope I have your full support SA and my other supporters around the world as I give it one last BANG on the pro scene. Make sure to read the full story in next issue of Muscle Evolution Magazine."

LOL at Vega.

I can't say I've got much sympathy after he referred to Lou Ferrigno's voice as being "squeaky". The guy's deaf, FFS :dry:

How did he wreck his health?
@VonD, how was he stupid?

I only just learned about Kai and the grape fruit incident :ohmy: I hope Marius didn't do anything worse than that!

Years of shoving tons in n excess of protein down his throat combined with insane cycles and steroid abuse have blown out his kidneys amongst other things.

His younger brother has an amazing physique. Looks almost exactly the same only smaller of course. Hopefully he doesn't make the same mistakes.

That's only what I've heard bro. I'm sure diuretics have played a role as well. But I do know for a fact his kidneys are shot.

Hi guys,I saw him bout 3weeks back at the Secunda show,a lot of people had bad comments about him looking fat and and and,I know this guy is huge,we all have our different oppinions and that's great,but I am sure all off you guys know there is no short cuts in this sport,regardless of what you use,it still takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get there,I do not want to get involved in a discussion of saying people bad,but no matter what he did,it took a lot from him to get there,I rather say hats off to the guy,he is an inspirration to many,and I know he did many things wrong,but no one is perfect.Let's not say each other bad,we all have the same goals only different ways off getting there,let's not judge.Cheers!!!May we all learn from mistakes we make.

Spot on Johann. Marius achieved more than most SA BBers ever have. Whether you love or hate him doesn't really matter. Some of the things he said seemed dumb to me, and I didn't dig his religious angle, but I would probably be accused of similar shortcomings if I ever got exposed to half the public scrutiny he was.

Hopefully he can get his supplement business off the ground though, otherwise he will have to pursue a new career. Which is sad.

If nothing else, this should serve as a warning to all the young okes on here that believe they have to go big early...

Look,no one is disputing the fact that marius has done so well in his body building career over the last 10 years, u just gotta ask yourself was it worth it? A fucked body and a couple of trophies for the rest of your days,whilst u try and make something of yourself by starting up a supplement brand in an already saturated market? I don't know,I don't compete and I use steroids on a recriational level,but my health is number 1,I just don't think putting your body through that hell is worth the end result of a couple of trophies and an empty bank account is worth it.

To be honest, Marius shouldn't be competing this year with the state of his health at the moment. From what I know, he supposed to retire just after he guest posed at the Jay Cutler event in joburg in 2011 due to his kidneys being so bad.

that was just before tampa, hey,if u wanna push the body to the limit then he is going to have major issues for the rest of his life, i mean if he is eating that little protein in a day,that just shows the damage,now who knows what he is taking and in what doses, that's just fuelling the fire...is a trophy and a win really worth running the risk of being put on a dialysis machine for the rest of your life?
