Stronger Bench Press was created by MCJ
I came across this link on facebook on the Bodybuilding tips and video's page.

I quote the following: "This is a killer trick that you can use to instantly increase your bench press strength your very next workout. All you have to do is perform a set of reverse dumbbell flyes (aka bent over dumbbell raises) in between each set of bench presses. What this will do is take some of the blood and lactic acid build up from your chest and front delts and put it into your rear delts and upper back. This allows you to feel stronger under the bar and actually bench more reps and/or lift more weight then you could if you did not perform the reverse dumbbell flyes before each set of benches."

Now to the uneducated such as myself this theory seems to make sense. However how practical is this really and would it be advantageous at all?

I thought the bench press uses primarily the front delts not rear

Yes it does but it says in the paragraph u do reverse flys to prevent lactic acid build up in the front delts and chest so u dont fatigue quicker when doing ur set.

It sounds logical indeed but im sure there isnt only limited lactic acid in ur body, if u build lactic acid up in ur chest and front delts and then do reverse flys u still gonna get lactic acid in ur chest and front delts, why would it shift to ur rear delts?

No lets not deadlift as I need a double hip replacement haha

Of course there will still be lactic acid. I think its impossible to totally shift all lactic acid from one site to another. But the quote doesn't claim to transfer all the lactic acid towards the rear delts but just reduce it enough between sets to have a better or stronger bench press.

It sounds like the increased blood flow towards the rear delts which causes the muscle to get pumped up would act as a transport mechanism for the built up lactic acid from the chest and front delts to the rear. But if lactic acid is transferable at all in the first place I don't really know. It is interesting though.

Sounds like a completely bogus idea. People have been doing push/pull sessions for years now and noone's ever reported strength increases due to it, better pumps yes due to there being more blood in the surrounding muscles but not strength increases. And if you want a stronger bench press you train for it, how much lactic acid will sets of less than 6 reps accumulate? Not much, and after 3-4 minutes rest there won't be any to hinder your next set anyway

Sorry guys Apparently it is true, cause its happened to certain people already, so I’m not taking any chances !!
