ice-rip, no rule of thumb, some guys train a body part twice a week some once a week... If the honestly feel that muscle can be trained again I will train it again aka monday and then again on friday... it's impossible to give a time on when you can, 7 days is rule of thumb, but as you get to know your body you can change that to suite your recovery per body part...

Aka, calves I can train once a week but sometimes I can train it 3 times a week, its just dependant on how they feel... I find on gear I get away training a bodypart every 5 days while off a cycle I find I land up fatigued if I train it before the 7 day rest period..

i would say 5 days is too long,if you are busting each muscle hard enough you shouldn't be able to train that same muscle with in a 7 day period... even max ot takes a toll on the body, a 4 days split is always good but if doing a 5 day split its always best to have a day off in the middle, so 2/3days on,1 day off,2/3days on 1 day off, this way your cortisol levels wont rise that much...

alot of the time guys over train when they dont take a break in the week... some of my best results have come from the 2 days on 1 day off 2days on 2days off training style.... plenty rest and relaxation inbetween...

DJ i think you missed what he said, not a training split..

Aka, on Monday you could do say Biceps, with something and on Friday you could be doing back, but you only trained Monday / Tuesday / Thur / Fri.. However by Friday you feel your bicep is ready to get pumped again.. That is where knowing your body as to including a few sets would either provide an improvement or fatigue the muscle.

On a cycle I don't think you need to worry about cortisol levels to much, you are way to anabolic for muscle break down to occur

Training a muscle every 5 days on cycle should be ok, however when off cycle I think you will be much better off with more rest and personally I will do once per week.

Without steroids, the max should be each bodypart 2x a week.
On cycle you could train a different bodypart every day if you were up to it.
