Deadlift form critique was created by Deadgoat
Hey guys just need your expert opinions on my current deadlifting form.
The first vid is of me dling 180 for a single with very poor form, back then I was only 1/4 squatting 100kg for reps.

In the 2nd vid (which I made today) I'm dling 165 for an easy triple but my form is way better as I've been working hard on my hamstrings and I'm now sitting with a 150x6 parallel squat :cheer: and I no longer use a belt for any of my exercises now

My current goal is a 220kg single by the end of the year. Any comments, tips and suggestions are more than welcome please

Sorry guys Apparently it is true, cause its happened to certain people already, so I’m not taking any chances !!

the only thing i could say is maybe a bit a lower in the "sitting position" you are getting your quads 55 degrees at the moment, try get them a little lower so u are in the 45 degree position... thats all i could say, this will make you use more glute and hamstring and once these are stronger your dead lift will also get stronger...

Dropping my hips is what I've been working on the most during the past few months. They are usually lower but read this "Precision Pulling" t-nation article this morning stating how you are stronger in a quarter squat position than you are in a parallel position.

TBH didn't feel that much glute and ham recruitment so will definitely go back to dropping my hips like you said

There is a big difference between bodybuilding and power lifting. Watch Jay - Z movie and you will see him say the exact same thing on muscle beach. He is twice the size of that oke, yet he only does 4 plates or was it 5 on each side. Injuries are a no go when you trying to perfect yourself.

Don't try compare ones self to Ronnie as he is a freak, that is capable of pushing those weights.

Yes i agree there is a difference between PL and BB but in terms of deadlift technique i think if u a PL or a BB u striving for the same technique and if u can do the weight for 6 do it. Holding back coz u scared of injury is a bit soft for me, if u got the technique u shud be fine.

Also ol mikhail is 6,5 he aint small so jay z must be hugggggge! haha

No lets not deadlift as I need a double hip replacement haha

I use straps too, used to do 220kgs when I was using thick gear. Now I do around 120kgs as my knees can't take the weight, even strapped it's too painful

You only need the straps because you use straps. Have you tried a mixed grip? And ditch the straps for all your pulling exercises not just deadlifts.

Downside is that your dick, I mean girlfriend, will keep complaining about the callouses

@pump you tried rack pulls yet?

its a deadlift with less ROM, isolates the back much better.

You can do it by placing the loaded bar on platforms or by placing the bar on the safety catch of the squat rack and standing on a platform.
The key is for the bar to be at least knee high when you start the movement, so you're essentially moving at the hips and putting all the stress on your back instead of your glutes and ham.

For a better description just google "rack pulls/deadlifts"

hey bud, looking good.
there's no video from the front so i cant critique properly. just keep your arms LOCKED with your arms turned so your biceps face the front. be sure to keep your knees in line with your toes so that they dont bend in at the bottom of the lift. also try to lean back as far as possible (so that the bar touces your shin).

i'd also recommend you use your belt when you do 3 or less reps.

how tall are you? have you tried sumo?

PS if you think misha (mikhail) is insane, check out konstantin konstantinovs - he is smaller than misha but he is a deadlift GOD!

Thanks for the tips, will use them in my next session, I generally avoid using a belt because I dont train abs at all, so squats, deads and military presses without a belt is the only core work I get in. I'm currntly 6'1 (1.86m). I tried sumo a year ago, it puts too much emphasis on upper back and glutes for my liking

oh ok i see. just be carefull you dont hurt your back - it can happen easy! and you still use your core when you wear a belt.
the sumo all depends on if you want to train for bodybuilding or to be strong.

Never feel sorry for yourself... Even if you're training hard, he might be training twice as hard. You just gotta keep coming back stronger.
