What will help for a elbow muscle or sinew jumping when doing dips?

If the pain is in the joint then a joint supplement may help, if its behind the elbow (triceps tendon) then dj is on the right track. Start out with some light warm up sets of pull downs or something of the like before moving on to heavy skullcrushers. If the pain persists then get a chiro or other suitably qualified person to take a look at it.

@Spike: What can one do for pains that feel like shin splints in the forearm?
Mainly comes with Barbell Bicep Curls etc... Just in the one arm.
Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

Only thing I've ever used that helped miraculously with elbow pain was NPP. Icing until numb makes a big difference, but NPP is a miracle worker for knee and elbow pain

sting: it could be some hypermobility in the lumbar spine, this can often be the result of overcompensation for a segmant that has lost mobility and become fixated... Just a possibilty. But so long as its not causing pain i wouldnt be too concerned

I've experienced a similar problem as with regards to the elbow pain.I found the pain to be more on the long head end of the triceps. possibly some weakness there?
i find that doing some light - moderate sets of kickbacks before moving on skull crushers or laying french presses helps prevent pain.

You especially get that from too heavy lying tri-extensions/Skull crushers. And that is also the reason why doing an overhead tri movement in your routine is so important.

I have an earlier thread on this topic. I suffer from the exact same thing. Alt db curls and im fine; ez bar curls and i get a moderate twinge; straight bar curls and im ALL EFFED UP! Obviously its weight dependant and i only get it in the right arm. Have to put the weight down and release fingers v-e-r-y slowly...
Its a flippin pain - literally & figuratively
Peace...
