Overtraining

I would like to hear some opinions on overtraining. I have been on a very hectic training routine for the last 6 weeks exactly doing heavy weight training, explosive weight training and boxing training during the week. After the weight training i would be working the pads or the bag for about 30 minutes and finishing of with high intensity uphill sprints till the point exhaustion. Some of these workouts but not all make me gag at the end just like about to vomit. For the first 3 weekends i did long distance slow jogging in the mornings plus 30 minutes of power hitting the rubber truck tyre and doing heavy sand bag lifting and throwing. At the end of week 3 i started feeling fluish and acne started popping out on my face and back. I started to take the weekends off but i feel more and more tired up to a point that I dont even want to get out of bed. I havent been using any kind of gear for atleast 5 months now but my libido is not there. I havent had "morning glory" for 2 weeks now.
Some of the guys at the gym think that the issue is overtraining. I have been reading up a bit on the symptoms of overtraining and it looks like these symptoms are the case. I even read that overtraining lowers test levels. Anyone got any experience on this?

First symptoms is a lazy haertrate. Thinking you hitting high intensity but the haertrate monitors says you're still in the fat burning zone. Not getting good deep sleep and waking with cold sweats. Big sign! Libido and morning glory missing. Immune system takes a beating and you get constant colds. This can get serious. When the signs are prominant you need to back down for a week or 2. If you are really in a overtrained slump it can take up to 2 months to get out of it. Nurse your immune system very well and up your B vitamins. I've made 1 or 2 journey's to the hospital totally fucked because of stubborness and total disregard for the signs.
Take care of this Lesa!

@ ABC01: I don't want to start an argument with you, but as far as I know a low heart rate whilst training is a sign of fitness, my dad (endurance runner) has a resting pulse of somewhere in the low 50's (sometimes even in the 40's) and even when they did tests on him they could not get his heart rate to the max (220 - age = max heart rate) with intense spinning. Does one's heart really become "lazy" if you are overtrained?

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.

I'm not sure if I get wood EVERY morning, but most of the mornings I have wood. Maybe you just wake up AFTER your woody has settled down, the erection occurs because of a spike of testosterone levels, in the early morning (after 6-7 hours of deep sleep) if I'm not mistaken. If I sleep for 10+ hours I usually don't notice a woody, but if I slept for 7-8 hours when I wake up, I am greeted by a woody. :silly:
Hope it helps you, low test/libido sucks...

Valid question! If you genetically have low haertrate its a different story. But going on your previous workout stats you know where you beat. If you hit your lactate zone (high intensity) at 175 bpm normally and all of a sudden you get these symptoms and according to your perception you really are giving it you all but haertrate does not come close to that (140's for example), that is a good indication of overtraining, hence lazy haertbeat. Decline in haertrate is a scientific proof of one of the symptoms of overtraining
Ones haertrate seem to decrease with fitness. Technically its not what really happens. As your body gets conditioned your power output at a certain haertrate increases. So for the same excertion you can excercise at a lower haertrate - clear sign of increased fitness. The main goal however is to produce more power within a certain haertrate

Ok, I get it now, its like having tired leg muscles, then you will not be able to run at your fastest, even though you push really hard...
The same goes for an overtrained heart-muscle, its just too tired and overworked ("lazy") to go to your max heart-rate, no matter what effort you put in.
Simple like poo-ding :silly:
