every thing u do with heavy dumbells strengthens your forearms in my opinion, like for instance u are still using your forerms when u are doing dumbell bench press, they are used to stabilise the weight etc..any back movement also uses the forearms, not directly though,

I'm sure I read somewhere that forearms don't get judged in a bodybuilding comp.

But agreed that some of these guys have huge fore arms and I'm sure it comes with the training with heavy weights and it grows easily in their situation with 23" arms and all.

I train forearms every second day not heavy just started it to increase my grip it worked wonders for the grip on the wide grip pulldowns and so forth. But got into the habit and forearms are actually starting to take shape nicely

Well the straps help you to go heavy on deadlifts and all as they provide that extra grip, so I dont think it will impact that much on forearm development unless you're one of those guys that like to use straps for everything to make you look all mucho in the gym and not because you actually need them

I have actually heard i have nice forearms. I used to train them once a week. The old rolling the bar with the rope and weight attached and forearm curls and reverse curls.
It looks nice to have big forearms.
The grip is also a good reason. I use straps only with real heavy weights. But avoid them on most sets.

Yeah, i think Straps should only be used for bent over rows, deadlifts and shrugs... when going heavy!

I will start training forearms then hehe.
Have heard some reviews that it is not needed, as it works while you are doing other exercices.

Train your forearms! You need to do hammers for the brachialis anyway. If you miss that part your arm looks lame.
Figuring out which exercises works each part of the forearm is easy.
Twist your arm in different directions and see for yourself how many angles there are. I cant imagine why anyone would leave it out.

I have always had a decent pair of forearms from playing alot of golf, hockey and cricket.
Starting gym only enhanced them....until i started using straps for gym. I noticed I never got a good pump and i started loosing size, definition and vascularity.
I stopped using them for my whole workout and only use the straps when I really need to, for shrugs etc...and what do you know, all of a sudden the forearms bounced back!!
