Training Injury? was created by Catsmasher
Hey All!
This is my first Thread so I will keep it short
Ive been training weights "heavily" the last four months and I guess without noticing I injured my right wrist  and whenever I do my heavier sets I get a piercing pain to my wrist on the rightside close to the little bone at the top.
I have had a week or two off but everytime I exercise this pain comes back.I also cant do "Upright rows" or anything that requires me to twist my wrist up and down which is a total F-up.Even when I do pushups i suffer!
I was wondering would investing in a wrist-strap or wrapping my wrist help at all? Or do I realllly!!have to go to the doctor? :S

I had a problem with my wrist and used a wrist strap. it felt leke to gym and everything when i took it off i was worse off, it felts as my wrist got weaker all little muscles went a-wall. so my opinion dont strap it rather fix it before you injure yourself more. Believe me hahaha i am one of those guys that hates a doctor and always know better. but in the end the doc is the best investment when it comes to bodybuilding or any High intensity training on the body.

Yeah the straps only offer support, they wont help strengthen your wrists or fix the problem

As a chiro who see's these injuries, and a bodybuilder with problematic wrists myself, Id take it easy for a while. Get a chiro or physio to take a look at it, its most likely a minor tendon strain, or if there is a small lump there, then a ganglion (inflamm of synovial sheath). Rest it, ice it regularily. Use a wrist guard and gloves with straps when lifting heavy, but DO NOT rely on the added support all times. You need to strengthen the wrist. Best exercise for strengthening wrist is eccentric contractions. Place weight in hand, use other hand to help raise weight (wrist extension) and then lower weight to normal alone. Keep the weights light, and if it or any other exercise hurts the wrist, stop it immediately and ice.
