Hi everyone,

Ok, so the gyming has been going damn well. Happy with everything so far except for the issue in the title. Now, my right bicep has always been a little bigger than my left. But since I have been back at the gym, it is now much more noticable. I dont feel like Im over compensating with my right. :(

Anyone have some ideas on how to fix this? Must I lift heavier weights with my left?

Cheers
Nan ;)

Hi! My right bicep is also slightly bigger than my left, but not visibly. I can only feel the difference when I wear a tight fitting T-shirt. Just realy concentrate when you do any curling movements for your biceps. Mind muscle connection. Maybe do a few partial reps at the end with your left arm and assist witg your right, like a spotter.

Steun en kreun, en poep selfs as jy moet, maar moenie toelaat dat die yster jou onderkry.

Had the same for a little while..

I simply just pushed more with my left for most of time till they leveled themselves out..

Was waiting for that chirp ..... ;)

It is not what car you drive, but the size of the arm hanging out the window.

I wouldnt say really pushing heavier with the left. I think just focus on pushing harder.

Is your left arm stronger than the right?? If so try focus of pushing more reps with the same weights with the left.

( I noticed that when I use the straight bar , and I come near to failure , the left arm get weaker first. So I start concentrating and pushed a little more with the left for like 3 -4 months. Sorted me out . )

Good luck ...

Its pretty normal and most people suffer from it to different degrees. Even look at pro’s a lot of them have a noticeable difference. You may find the arm with the better bicep actually has a weaker triceps to the alternative arm.

Best way to sort this out is… Use dumbbells. That way each arm is offered and equal amount of resistance and one cannot dominate over the other.

Try this –
Incline dumbbell curls using both arms at the same time

Hammer curls across your body

One arm cable curls.

Follow that for about 8 weeks. Start with the weaker arm and end with it. That way it will always do an extra rep.

Hope this helps.

Same with me, sorry guys, dont mean to hijack the thread. I have the same problem as shuddz. The left peck is almost double the size of the right after a workout. I'm not sure if this is perhaps because I had open heart surgery when i was a toddler but i've always had this problem since i started training.

Hope this helps! and yes, im speaking from personal experience. right pec smaller than left and left arm bigger than right. I stopped doing isolation exercises for biceps all together and did more dumbell presses and no barbbell presses for chest for a while. For arms I concentrated on my body weight pulls: wide grip and my cinups. took about 4 months to even stuff out.My arms still grew.I only isolate my triceps avery now and then. Dont do biceps anymore cause the pulls i do seems to do a better job than any preacher curl!

I also had this problem with my left bicep and by doing more Reps/weight with it i just ended up over training the left and it just got worse...

As ppl have already said just use dumbbells and when the weaker arm fails in a set then don't continue with the right, let ur weaker arm dictate the amount of reps and eventually it will get better but it does take 3-4 months in my experience anyway

i had a slightly bigger bicep in my right than my left arm, and what i noticed is, when i used to do any curls, i naturally always looked at my right while curling ( i wear hoody and long pants while i train ) but i always seemed to mentally focus alot more on my right, so what i actually did, is instead of switching to dumbells, i concentrated on the barbel, and bringing the weight down and up for full contractions, squeezing equally at the top till it hurt like hell, but only looking straight ahead and not to the side, it might sound stupid, but it worked for me, my left got much fuller and now its all good.
I think just watching the form of both arms like you would your fuller looking one would do the world of good instead of looking at how nice your bi looks on the right then just curling the left to just get the rep done then concentrate on the right again kinda thing. I wouldnt say putting more weight on your lagging arm is a good idea, your arm might not look as full as your other one but it doesnt mean its not as strong, so by you adding more weight or reps to that arm could cause an imbalance? that said under correction.
there's also other factors you gotta look at, triceps is the major part of your arm, if your tri's are lagging it will make your arm lag.
Also its genetics, but you can always do everything in your power to make the most of it..
Just google front double bicep jay cutler and youll see even pro's have it.
Anyways goodluck bro.
all the best

Strangely enough i hardly ever used the bar, think i can count on my one hand how many times i used it as i prefer using the dumbells for chest or anything else, but my left pec still surpasses the right one.
