Some Training & Nutrition advice needed was created by Frankie
I have been working out consistently going on 2 years now 3 days a week at home in the morning upon waking.
My home gym consists of a Proform Fusion 4 , Orbitrek , Barbell , Dumbbells and a Bench. With this equipment I have not yet reached the limits w.r.t max weight. (As I combine the barbell with the Pro-form to inc total weight)
I have just completed another 8week course of Sean Nalewanyj's The Truth About Building Muscle which is based on a 3 day a week HIT program.
I have previously done Jon Bensons 7minute muscle, my own 3 day a week full body workout (when I started) and a custom workout for variety.
As of late I am wondering if this workout is enough ? I do feel exhausted at the end of each workout and don't feel like I could get up the following morning do another workout, so a day's rest in between workouts seem to work for me recovery wise.
I also have to stress that I'm not on juice, so recovery wouldn't be as fast. And also the workout's are quite intensive so I'm always stiff the next morning!
I think my concern comes from the fact that the last year or so my bodyweight hasn't increased. When I started I weighed 75kg (1.78m). After a year I weighed 85kg. I'm currently on 86kg and my body parts have pretty much stayed the same size, only becoming more defined (i.e. losing fat)
I'm not interested in becoming a competition bodybuilder, so my diet isn't super clean, but a typical day is as follows:
1) 6.30am - Tasteless WPC Shake (3scoops += 50g) with 2 scoops Nesquick Strawberry and Water. (With Multi Vit, Flax Seed Tabs and 1g Vit C)
2) 7.45am - Jungle Energy Crunch with 2% milk
4) 10.30am - Tasteless WPC Shake (3scoops += 50g) with 2 scoops Milo and Water. (With 1 fruit)
5) 12.30pm – 3 slices Whole Wheat bread with P-Butter and Jam
6) 3.30pm - Tasteless WPC Shake (3scoops += 50g) with 2 scoops Milo and Water. (With 1 fruit)
7) 6.30pm – Supper (Normally Fish / Sausage / Pasta / Meat with Veggies & Potato)
In between I have about 3 big glasses of water
I’m wanting to put on some more muscle (grow) without getting too much fat on. I don’t have a calliper but I’m guessing I’m between 10-13% BF ‘cause I can see my ABS but there is still some flab just below the belly button.
I don’t do any cardio currently.
Any feedback / advice would be appreciated

Train harder than the guy next to you and one day, no-one will be able to touch you

ok I don't think you're training is to blame here (although I'm sure you can get alot more outta it)
looking at you're diet, I'm surprised you have managed to even maintain that weight, never mind add any more.
What you need to understand is the more weight you pick up, the more food it's going to take to maintain it.
you need to cut out the bread also, it's doing nothing to help you build the body you're working towards.
best thing in my opinion is to email djeasye for a die, he charges a bit, but it's well worth the money.
his email is EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED
and with regard to you're training, google max-ot and take a look at the program.
lots of guys getting really good results using it, I was against this training in the past thinking that it's not enough but I have been made a believer by trying it
good luck bro

first off to grow u are going to need to push to failure ie getting heavier weights, push low rep ranges like 8 reps maximum 6 at minimum but to failure...u need to over load and stimulate and force the muscle into growing, maybe look at a proper gym contract as they will have all the weights u will need, nutrition is not exactly right either, whey shouldnt be your only major protein source 50% of your foods should be whole food, and 50% shakes, peanut butter and jam on toast aint gonna cut it if u wanna grow dude...

The average male doing weight-training without steroids will gain a maximum of 7kg of lean muscle tissue per year.Your 1st year you did good.Your main problem is that you are basically living off "Tasteless WPC Shake".No food supplement can replace the good value of wholesome nutritious food.Eat more rice, potatoes, red meat, fish, chicken, eggs, leafy green veggies, etc. You also need to up your protein to at least 200g/day.
1) 6.30am - Tasteless WPC Shake (3scoops += 50g) with 2 scoops Nesquick Strawberry and Water. (With Multi Vit, Flax Seed Tabs and 1g Vit C)
- This is ok for a post workout shake if you add more carbs
2) 7.45am - Jungle Energy Crunch with 2% milk
- This is not considered a nutritious breakfast, add 3- 4 eggs and wholegrain bread to this meal
4) 10.30am - Tasteless WPC Shake (3scoops += 50g) with 2 scoops Milo and Water. (With 1 fruit)
-this is fine
5) 12.30pm – 3 slices Whole Wheat bread with P-Butter and Jam
- This is lunchtime, not a snacktime, eat 2 chicken breasts or fish and some brown rice
6) 3.30pm - Tasteless WPC Shake (3scoops += 50g) with 2 scoops Milo and Water. (With 1 fruit)
- Add peanutbutter instead of milo
7) 6.30pm – Supper (Normally Fish / Sausage / Pasta / Meat with Veggies & Potato)
- You need to eat another meal after this,or a shake with at least 50g of protein and a few carbs.
In between I have about 3 big glasses of water
Not enough,have at least 2ltrs a day
Overall you need to calculate your daily calorie requirements and increase it by around 200-300 extra calories per day.
EAT MORE TO GROW!!!

Thanks for the posts. Will take your advice into consideration
I've never been able to eat a lot. I'm a bit of an Ectomorph (weighed 69kg before I started eating better). Which is why I drink shakes. Maybe I need to add some more carbs to make it a MRP ? (Waxy Maize ?)
I'll look into the Max OT training also thanks. My only concern is over training because it's 5 days a week ?!
I don't think I'll have a problem with training at home at the moment.
The weights I have available at home to work with allow me to go to 6-8 reps before failure for all major muscle groups. (Weight can go up to 170kg for dead lifts/squats and bench currently)

Yeah you can add in branced heavy carbs to the shakes to add in the cals. I'm going to use WMS and whey in multiple shakes to help get my cals over 4000 next year. But you still need whole foods. Use the shakes to get in the cals but stretch that stomach with more whole food and protein sources.
