Ever since I got a heart rate monitor Im almost obsessed with it. At the moment I burn between 500-600 calories per session. Interestingly enough when I am on and ECA (which Ive just started again) I burn between 700-800 per session.
If I do treadmill and spinning in one session I burn just over 1000.
Gret to know what you`ve burnt!

I do treadmill and boxing 30min (total). If I feel like it I sometimes do boxing on its own for about an hour. 3min intervals. 3min heavy bag, 3min shadow boxing, 3min medium/heavy sparring, 3min rest. Rinse and repeat.
If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.

I am also thinking of getting one, but that's the thing, is it accurate with those readings?

do it...you wont regret it...I reckon they pretty accurate as it is a constant monitoring of your heart rate and the calculations are based on your weight, sex etc. The best thing is that you can download all your calories burnt during your workout to your pc and that allows you to constantly keep a check on your workout intensity so if you trying to cut its great. I know that if I need to burn say 500 calories in a workout and have only achieved 400 by the end of weight session I hit the cardio till Ive reached my goal.
Thing is most people will go to great lengths to monitor exactly how many calories they taking in but how do they monitor how many they burning.

Because most people try and burn 500 calories per day with cardio when cutting right?

Thing is its not what you burn during the cardio session, its what you burn afterwards. Most of the calories you burn occurs after your cardio session and not during the session

Mmmmmmmmm. OK now this has got me thinking, so let say you burn 500 calories during a weight work - out. Do you need to burn an extra 500 with cardio or not?

no Quite...if I say for the total workout session I need to burn 500 and by the end of the weight session I have only burnt say 450 then I just hit the cardio till I ve burnt a total workout session of 500. As I said earlier cardio days are higher.
BS is correct...for up to 36 (somewhere around there) after a hard weight session your metabolism is raised and hence for that period of time you burning more calories because of that heavy workout. I wouldn`t even no where to start on how to calculate how many over that periosd though. That to me is the bonus on top of what I burn during a workout which I can measure via the HRM.
Cardio raises your metabolism for only approx 2 hrs after a workout. ( approx)
