Hiya all,

So I bought that USN starter kit. Been using it for a week and a half now. Have heard they not the best products, but ja...so far I have seen results. Lost 1cm of fat around my legs and waist in the past week. Also lost 1.2 kg in the week. So all in all....Im burning fat and feeling more solid (not a huge difference, but definately feeling a bit more tighter - if thats the right word?)

So with sticking to this USN diet, workout routine etc, Im seeing results. Very small results this early, but its what I expected.

Now my question....its says I should be consuming roughly 2800 calories per day. Been recording my calories and Im coming up short. Im sitting at 2000 a day. I worried that my body will start breaking down muscle before fat and not making new muscle (as Im not getting the recommended 2800 a day). Im also worried that Im starving my body of the 800 calories and I will start storing fat as my body will think its being deprived of the needed nutrients and daily calorie intake.

I read in many places that you need to eat enough otherwise your body goes into hibernating mode and stores almost everything.

So, with the 5-6 small meals I eat in the day, what else can I add to them to push my daily calories up to 2800. I need 800 more, so was thinking an extra 400 in my mid morning and mid afternoon meal supplement? Almonds any good? Biltong? Im not sure. Would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks
Nan ;)

nano,i started a thread a while back called calorie intake help,in and amoungst the posts there is one from doctari where he explains how to work out your calorie intake and how u should cycle your calories ( high carb day) to help reboost your metabolism, the advice given there is world class and should be read by all who are looking to cut...

now bud just a question, are u sticking to that diet of the usn challenge? have u added pre and post work out nutrition,if u havent u could always do that and bump up the calories that way... i found doing that diet worked (29kg loss in 6 months) but it didnt give u any guide lines for pre and post work put nutrition...

if you read tom venuto's burn the fat feed the muscle,he reommends working out your maintaince calories, and then dropping it by 15% and then every 4th day u add the 15% worth of calories back into your diet in the form of carbs...its called a refeed,it boosts your metabolism again...

Hi djeasye,

Thanks for the info...gonna go take a read now!

Im sticking to the diet...but in all honesty....it gets a bit bland. Added some variations, but always stick to low fat and the calorie intake. Only eat what they recommend, been very good with that. Pre & post workout nutrition....hmmm, sorry Im such a noob at this...but have not heard about that. I gym in the mornings and take a glass of water with phedra cuts before my workout. Then have a normal breakfast as per the USB diet after my workout (heard its better to workout on an empty stomach?). So ja...not taking pre or post workout nutrition. What do you recommend?

Nano ,

Get hold of me on EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED

We can do a custom training program and diet suited for you. Not some generic crap that comes with some junk out of china... Sorry did I say that?

Dieting does get bland. You need to decide what you want to do. If your dieting for a show then you just have to live with it. If its a life style change like in your case then you can add some sauces , spices ect and make it more exciting.

Hey everyone, thanks sooo much for the replies! Saying its a wealth of info is really an understatement!!

@djeasye - Thank you thank you thank you for that link to your post from a while back. Exactally what I was looking for. After reading it, I realise the USN starter kit is just that, a starter kit. It gives you a base and you work from there. So I have my base and will use that info from your thread to put my plan together. Gonna post it up when I get it done for some feedback if thats ok?

@Kevin Coyne - Thanks for the offer. Im going to give this plan detailed in djeasye's thread a go. Im keen to give it a try. Will contact you if I dont come right, if thats ok? Wanna first give this a try before moving onto something else.

Many many thanks again!

All too true! But I guees its not that much of a secret as the info Doctari relayed, it wont be the same for everyone. Its more of a mold that needs to be sculpted to the persons desired requirements.
