Unsymmetrical chest was created by Alfred
I have another very frustrating problem for years now! The right side of my chest is flatter in the middle upper part (right next to the sternum), which makes it very unsymmetrical. I think it might be due to my right tricep being stronger than the left or just the whole pectoral muscle firing differently than the other side (if something like that is possible) I could swear I feel this when I really concentrate. I have tried everything but with no success. Every time after I had trained chest the left side is more sore in that area and is now noticeably thicker. I know it is virtually impossible to isolate a muscle group, but does anybody possibly have advice for me? BTW I do bench and flies and presses all on the incline because I lack upper chest.

why not look at switching all your movements to using dumbells, that way your left side will not take the strain and your right side of the chest may build up to the same strength as the stronger side. start with your flat flys maybe to pre exhaust the muscle and then do your pressing motions...this might help...only a theory but i hope it workds for u....

ive done the same, switched completely to dumbells ... there is a degree of balance prompting overcompensation in using barbells. With DB i find that both sides have to concentrate in isolation to keep the balance and that helped me the fill out my weaker side

Nothing worth doing is ever easy.

Thanx for the tips guys. I will do just dumbelss for a while and see how it goes. I must say now that I'm thinking about it, I feel the greatest imbalance in contraction when using the barbell.

completely agree, dumbells!! I love them the feeling is completely different, if I use them I can isolate it without feeling shoulder and triceps, and using them you can squeeze it in the middle once up!!

I've got a similar problem as this but I think it is from a different source. I have a wierd shoulder issue. I can stick my scapula or shoulder blade out on the right side. This causes my right shoulder to sit a bit forward and my right pec to look slightly smaller. It's not really noticeable to anyone besides me and it doesn't cause many problems while lifting. But maybe that's because I normally train with dumbbells anyway.

Just be careful of one thing... If your issue is similar to mine then you gotta take care with your rotator cuff. If your shoulder starts grinding or clicking at all go see a physio and train our rotator cuff muscle hard to realign that joint! If you pop your shoulder out you'll be out of the game for awhile!
