Proper shoes to squat and deadlift in

Pretty straight forward question. A few examples of hard flat sole shoes that will be great with squats and deadlifts...
I usually jog to gym as a warm up and kick off my shoes when I deadlift and squat due to the running shoes being too...squishy?...if I can put it that way. But the VA guys have been giving me flack for this.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Use the same style shoe now but just the "46664" make because it seems to be a sturdier constructed shoe.

I will look into those. Been asking around and it seems that Puma's are pretty popular too - very hard and flat sole. Nike and Addidas have similar shoe models.

Make sure that whatever shoe you use, that the heel isn't raised: a raised heel results in a shearing force on your knees, which is really dangerous! I tore my cruciate ligaments in my left knee in high school so I always make sure my knees are taken care of

Is this for the same reason why one will not put little blocks underneath one's heels? I remember a few year ago that this was sort of the "craze"...

But correct, the raised heels provide a unnatural sheer force on the knees..if you squat heavily, the forces on your knees at the bottom of the lift (at parallel or below) will mess them up.

I bit the bullet about a month ago and have started wearing them for legs and I feel far more stable and when training calves I get far more stretch and contraction so I'm sold. I think they are the Bizz and blow any other trained or gym shoe away.
