Quick Q: When you do this exercise, should your arms only go down to parallel, or is it important that they go past parallel?

past parallel, your dumbells should be down inline to your shoulders. otherwise u arent getting full range of motion.just like chest, the dumbells should come down to your chest.

The weights on the dumbells should just touch your shoulders, but not rest on them. - "Some old toppie" at the Northcliff Sharper Image ~1992
I remember as a schoolboy training and "some old toppie" came to give us tips. He said we were sacrificing form for heavy weights and that we were basically wasting our time. He showed us how to do the exercise correctly and we could only do like half the weights (he easily did the weights we were at that time). He laughed and said NOW we're exercising the correct muscle and as our form is correct we are isolating and making it work to the max.
p.s. As he was walking away one of the guys said "who the hell is that?" and a guy training next to us said "Reg Park"
