Rib or cartilage injury was created by Bulrider76
So this morning I'm doing leg press, feeling brave, so skip the normal warmup set and jump into 120 kg 12 reps which is a bit hard but going ok. Then I increase it to 160 kg and on the second press feel a pop in the lower ribs on my right side. Not too sore but uncomfortable. Completed the set taking care to focus on breathing and ended up ok. Sore when I move right side now and feeling very stiff.

Googled it a bit and it seems a fairly common injury in the weightlifting/bodybuilding arena. Happened to me before when a cow landed on top of me (don't ask) and yes a real cow. Hurt on the left side then and I could barely breathe. Took forever to heal.

What can/should I be doing/not doing to 1) avoid a repeat, 2) strengthen affected area, 3) increase healing.

Any feedback/ideas would be appreciated!

If it's a cartilage problem: www.anabolicsteroids.co.za/forum/11-gene...121296-injured-wrist

That and rest I'd say?
