Hey Gents

Well my leg training lately has been going very well and I've seen my legs come on nicely.
I train alone and have been squatting a full set of 170kg fairly easily so this morning I thought I'd go up to 190... Luckily I put a bench behind me just incase.
I did first 2 reps ok but on the third I found I couldn't get up and I was firmly planted to the bench shitting myself with all this weight on my shoulders and no one around.
I screamed like a girl and this big mama came and helped me get it back up I could have kissed her.

I won't be going heavy on squats without someone around again.

Go big or go home...

This one guy was doing "knieknakke" at our gym... Well i say knieknakke because he is trying to do squats but barely bends his knees. He tried to rerack the 200kg on his back, he thought it was on the hook and let go... So the one side just dropped.

The really scary part is that this guy doesnt have most of his fingers on one hand. Think he only has his thumb. So to be able to do squats he ties the entire hand to the bar.

And it is exactly this side of the bar that didnt hook. So now you can think what a fuckup it could have been.

But miraculously some other guy flew to his aid and caught the bar before it could drop.

I still dont know today how that guy got to help him so quickly... Must have been an angel or something haha

My gym has none of this, and we only have 1 squat rack  and one legg press machine and some idiot goes on the legg press machine and puts 2 x 10 kg plates on and does one legg at a time it takes him like 45 min to a hour to finish just his legg press. Im gonna rig that machine somehow one day .

Ye I was using the squat rack,

Just with stupidly having the bench there I was stuck sitting so I couldn't dump it on the parallel part of the rack. I never usually put the bench behind me and I didn't expect to fail... I just wrongly thought that if I'm looking up straining at least I no I've gone low enough past 90 degrees once my ass touches the seat and on the third rep the tank was empty and there was no getting up.

Go big or go home...

Squatting alone/unassisted really can be daunting! Every week I try and go heavier, but often finish off after 2 or 3 reps to prevent failure! This is normally after like 5 sets.
Bought some knee straps, on the last 2 sets I wrap up and am able to push out more reps before failure.

On topic. Saw this poephol load a standard EZ bar after he racked it. Puts on a 15kg plate on one side, then BAM, the bar flips over and the guys is jumping around like pansy.
Jeez I laughed.

Shut up and Squat!!

Sorry for highjacking the thread but a scary thing happened to me yesterday.

Had a hard chest workout and suddenly out of nowhere a lot of blood comes gushing from my nose. I am not prone to nose bleeds at all so this was a little worrying!.

Wow, you are squating 170kg +, you must have awesome looking quads then. Wish I could get past 120kg for 4 reps.
Please share or give us a tip or two on squating such poundage..... Post a pic of you quads aswell

@JR what do you mean by safty chains Bro?I Can't picture them, can you use them on a squat rack?
After my little episod I'm a bit daunted about squatting this week and either need to rope in a gym buddy or make a plan.

On that note does anyone here train on the east rand? Benoni-bedfordview?

My squats are up to a staggering 80kg now...

Scary thing that happened to me before is that I dropped a 10kg weight plate on my foot... then there was another time when I just started gyming... was doing dumbbell bench press with 18kg dumbbells, I pushed them up but let them go way to wide...like a fly... semi dislocated my shoulder...that hurt...

The scariest thing was probably having one of the maintenance guys cleaning the same spot of the mirror for 20min...in the changing room
