Hi everyone,

Happy new year and all the best for 2015.

I have been doing alot of reading lately about Prov1gil/Modaf1nil and was very interested to know if anyone here has tried it out, and if so, what were the results like?

Anyone know where I can get my hands on some in JHB area? Or maybe a reliable site to order from. I see 99% of sites are overseas based and I'm a bit skeptical to part with my money on them.... so any advice would be very appreciated?

Thanks

Modafinil is a schedule 5 medicine for which you need a perscription from your doctor. It is against the rules to discuss sourcing medicines illegally.

I do apologise for this Pyroclasm.

I will stick to asking if anyone has given this supplement a test drive and if so, what were the results like?

Yeah I have used it and it is fantastic as a pre-workout. The energy and tunnel vision focus you get from it is quite amazing and I found that I could easily double my cardio even after an intense workout. It also helps keep you energised through the day.

In addition to that you also get razor sharp focus throughout the day. I was on an intense three week training course at work which entailed 10 hours in a classroom daily and I absorbed everything the lecturer said.

I found the effects to really kick in during the second week of use but still, you will feel it from day one. The problem is the high cost which means I could only use a box (30) at a time. After using it for a month you tend to feel quite stupid once you have stopped, that is because it is sort of like that NZT pill from limitless.

This is not a drug you want to exercise on... The cardiac problems you can develop is not at all worth the 'little' drive it gives you..

Stick to what works and is safe .. your eca stack, or most of your preworkout supplements ..

It can become habit forming.. but not from the 'cravings' but because you feel flat when you not using it...

It also has a shit load of side effects that are very common ..

The other thing you do not want is the increased bleeding .. stacked with gear and raised RBC and on top of that if one is to happen to have surgery which on the cocktail you in allot of danger of complications, clotting, etc.

Depression is also a big problem, and actually feeling clouded somewhat like what burpropion makes some people feel

I may have to re-evaluate my conclusion on Modafinil's safety profile. Pump, can you provide some evidence of these many common side effects? I can't recall coming across them. But it was some time ago and maybe I was too busy looking for its benefits.

OP: I use Moda often pre WO. Salaza pretty much summed up my take on it although slightly less dramatic on the effects.

Discussions with cardiologist Dr Stanley at Sunghil and psychiatrist Dr Nickia who who runs the children section at Tara as well as Dr Moola who runs the rehab centre River fields lodge ..

All my knowledge around this drug comes from them.

From a heart health point of view, having this drug contribute towards a re-entry loop which can cause severe tachycardia and other common effects from the drug being PVCs. The problem with developing a re-entry loop is having to have cardiac surgery 'like I have twice' or a life time on beta blockers to control the rythm or coralan that is a much more specific drug that works on the 'funny channel' but it has a very short half life of around 4 hours..

If you want to have a very in depth chat about the drug they the ones you want to talk with

Then again I'm not a youngster anymore, wanting to put dangerous drugs in my body with very little positive effect on training with a much higher danger / side effect rate

Remember it's called bodybuilding not body-destroying

Where can I find their writings on the drug?

I'll be honest mate, to make such a claim needs to be backed with some evidence. Its pretty well known for being a safe drug based of studies as well as anecdotal.

He said he had discussions with them, so look them up and call them...

Don't start another argument over shit that doesn't belong in bodybuilding.

I can assure you one thing Dr Stanley is the best of the best, I do not doubt what information he shares with me

Chem1, to be honest, I'm not a doctor, but I have had heart problems and I was using this drug for ADHD, as well as other medication.

The reason for knowing the possible side effects on the heart is simply because I had to get to the route of the problem.

I do not pretend to know everything, because I do not know everything.. I will not pass advice kn things I do not know either..

It is very easy to be a know it all, and all you want to do is prove people wrong and you go find articles and manipulate words to make yourself look smart.

Heart palpatations are very common on this drug.. Remember when your hear starts to pump fast (stimulated) you can start to get fribulation.. The problem comes is that doing this to the heart on purpose, not because of a underlying issue will eventually catch up and cause a problem in the future.

Have your cardiac enzymes checked when your heart is under strain and has been beating like a race horse, they are effected.

Stimulating the vegus nerve constantly will eventually cause permanent arythmia..

Remember premature ventricular contractions are very much related to our outer environment, they are scary to have and start to lead to a bigger issue.

The other thing is, new studies show, in layman's terms 'the heart having X beats' in a life time and when that has been reached, game over.

I do not argue this drug does not have a place in medicine, but I do urge people to know that it is not safe to use often, and that it doesn't have a profound spot in bodybuilding, for psychiatric purposes, yes, it does, for conditions like MMD, it has also helped some people.

Have you see xrays of people's hearts just from steroids? The left ventricle is enlarged and if you look with a ultra sound, small parts on the outer rim of the heart do not respond, and are somewhat dead.

Now look at those same examples under situation they look frighteningly worse.

I am always open to learn more, just learn to respond in a more humble way and help share information, and I'd love to learn more where ever I can.

But don't question my honesty as I have no reason to lie on a forum whereby I'm a nickname.

Just be soft in your replies and you will see people will start to enjoy and discuss your points of view, which in the medical world things change daily, so called 'facts' are being changed to myths, so please, just respond in a gentle manner..

Pump I understand that for anyone with cardiovacular issues modafinil might be a big no no. But for young people with healthy hearts and no family history of heart problems is it really as dangerous is it's being made out to be here?

I would think that hardcore bodybuilders 35+ (who often end up with enlarged hearts or worse) at some time would need to be very cautious, but what about healthy guys in their 20's who are at a low risk for cardiovascular issues and only use steroids occasionally? I'm not well informed on this drug so I'm all ears.

Correct, the side affects of palpatations is still a very real problem.

Your are aging your heart by stimulating it for no reason. Regardless if you young or not.

Once your heart is effected you cannot reverse the damage, so why would some who is young and have healthy hearts want to add stress to it and cause early aging ?

Cardio and a healthy high heart rate is great because it's helping to make you fit, so in essence your resting heart rate drops nicely, and in essence adds longevity towards the heart and has many positive effects on ones brain and cognitive benifits.

The body is a well balanced and highly sophisticated being, but just like steroids cause shutdown, you can reverse this with PCT. With using insulin when you not a type 1 diabetic will stop the pancreas and even the liver to a point secreting insulin and you will then have to manually balance your sugars daily which is a nightmare and running high the strain on your body and having hyperglycaemia or worse slipping to around 1.5 and then going into a coma.

The same principle happens with stimulating and raises your heart rate 'in a unaturally way' by a foreign source.

So now you have been stimulating your vegus nerve and acting 'the funny channel' and over time you cause permanant damage.. So now you stop the drug and your heart rate is used to running high and will stay there..

The same is true with blood pressure but I really don't feel like typing out an explanation around that on my phone

Provig1l is dangerous to people with existing heart conditions but it is actually used (off label) to treat depression, bipolar depression, opiate and cocaine dependence, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and disease-related fatigue, as well as fatigue that is the side effect of another medication. It may also be an effective and well-tolerated treatment in patients with seasonal affective disorder.

Wikipedia has a lot of information about it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modafinil

Personally I have never used more than a box (30 tabs)at a time, with many months break before the next box. It is effective at 1 tab/day (100mg)but the effects I described above were at 2 tabs/day taken at once. The half life is actually 15 hours but after 12 hours you feel flat, not exactly a crash, but its done.

There have been five deaths linked to 1.3 dmaa but more people still use it as a pre workout. In my opinion Provig1l is way safer than 1.3 dmaa or even the pure ephedrin3 in an eca stack, and the science appears to back that up BUT only in healthy people with NO heart conditions. The flip side of that coin is the prohibitive price. Provig1l at 2 tabs/day will cost four times what a good pre workout will cost BUT you do not get four times the benefits. For me Provig1l really shines if you want to bang it hard in the gym and at the same time need enhanced cognitive function during the day for short periods (2 to 3 weeks).
