Just came across this

Can supplement companies make just about any claims regarding their products? Surely if half the stuff they claimed was true, most would be banned?

What they is based on the results of a study, but the study itself is designed to show amazing results. The study is normally done on obese people, people who do not weight train, people who have difficulty sleeping or the elderly where such supplements will be the most effective. They could also have a deficiency of something contained in the product that is proven to hinder HGH levels, like for example a zinc deficiency is proven to kill testosterone and hence supplement with this amazing zinc product increased testosterone levels by 100%. In reality the person using the supplement will likely not have this deficiency and in this case the product will not do much. You will never see such a study performed on healthy normal people without any known deficiency and if you do then the results will not be worth putting on the label.
