colostrum (biestrum) ??

Hi guys

a friend of mine at the gym told me that colostrum or (biesmelk as afrikaans people will know it) helped him gain a great deal of clean muscle over the years as he was a student and couldn't really afford whey etc so he bought colocstrum from the local coparasie for really cheap .. he says it taste like shit but hell if it works who cares .. anyone know if this really works and if it is worth it to use ?

I’m pretty much a colostrum expert and drank it many times before. It’s basically nature’s mass gainer and it’s far better than anything we humans can artificially create at present. (I don’t think that is even possible...)

The high lactose levels are a drawback though and many people’s stomachs will not cope well at all. It’s also not going to be something you want to drink when dieting.

Here is the problem though, I will NOT drink any colostrum unless I personally picked the cow or goat and did the milking myself. You really want to be sure you know what you are getting and be sure that the cow doesn’t have mastitis or other mammary disease.

The colostrum you get on the first day is the strongest, but sometimes contain a little blood, so I always preferred the second and third day’s colostrum. It should be nice and yellow with no solid or slimy chunks (mastitis). Should also not be watery as that is a sign of disease.

Your friend is a very brave man to drink the colostrum you buy from an agricultural cooperative. If it’s still liquid, it’s likely from a local farmer and you never know how hygienic it is. Usually you will milk a cow by hand after calving and freeze the extra colostrum when you need it later or you give/sell it to other farmers that need it for calves who’s mothers have no colostrum.

If you can get clean colostrum go for it, but it’s not easy to come by on a regular basis. We used to have 250 dairy cattle and even with that number you will have a hard time getting a constant supply.

Great for newborn babies, from their mama's hooters - good for the immune system - for new born babies that is. :dry:

If it makes a baby grow it will make a bodybuilder grow as well. It's not that disgusting and if you can drink a glass of milk you can drink colostrum as well. It's just a more concentrated taste, but not nearly as disgusting as some concoctions some bodybuilders make with food blenders/processors.

I'll rather drink colostrum before eating eggs.

I am sure it works Admin, perhaps it would more appealing drinking it from ladies - from the source that is. :whistle: I wonder if ladies is the same potency as dairy cattle just smaller quantities?

I guess it would be allot better than bovine colostrum since it's made by humans for humans and lactose levels should be much lower. I guess your problem is finding some. There are breast milk banks, but I don't think they will supply the bodybuilding market soon. :lol:

Don't get too excited, check for mastitis first. Squeeze twice and if the discharge doesn't look like snot you are good to suckle.

I think the least of my worries is the mastitis, all the angry daddies could be a bigger problem. will have to suckle on ones that don't produce colostrum!

How would one add this to your diet? Interesting topic.

It's not for calorie counters, you just take as much as you can keep down.

So you would potentially pick up a lot of fat on a bulk aswel...

You get capsules, but for bodybuilding you need at least 1L per day and that is more than the entire bottle that costs R200.

I came across this m.gumtree.co.za/v?adId=422546185 they sell it for R530 a kg. Am i wrong in saying you need 100mg for 100ml so that would be a kg/l ?

@NattyForNow thats even expensive like i stated the ones my bud bought was R400 round about for 25kg haha but like admin mentioned thats taking a chance thats the industrial one but the one on gumtree looks promosing

Don't use the stuff smalguy and his friend are taking, it's not intended for human consumption at all and probably full of rat shit and parasites. There is no way that stuff will be pasteurized or hygienic. Get fresh colostrum that is clean or don't use it at all.

I think you guys are missing the point about colostrum, you have to use it while it's fresh and drink a litre or two per day and once it has been frozen or powdered it's no better than regular whey. It's a complete waste of money and impractical to buy it in expensive capsules and only take two per day for some mystical marketing reason. The idea is to use it instead of a protein shake for a couple of weeks while you are seriously bulking.
