Why do you train? What is your payoff? was created by Roidrat07
Hey guys
I thought crossed my mind last night and I wondered, what is the real reason I train? ... I know, initially it was for health reasons, but through the years my motivation (or subconscious reasoning) has changed. I have obviously attained the "staying in shape" goal and as far as I am concerned, it no longer plays a roll in my reasoning for training. Training is now second nature and I really enjoy it.
I do not take my shirt off in public, no one sees me without clothes (except the partner) ... so what is my payoff? I figured it is looking good in public. I love the attention I get from people looking at me.

Initially, I started to improve my sport (rugby and basically anything with a ball, hell I even played tennis and hocky for the chicks). So that was how I got started, say grade 10. Then, typical boy, I became self conscious. Everyone compared them to me... I didi the same. If I saw a guy, I'd sum him up, estimating his weight etc... I started getting big... As I got bigger more people noticed. I got compliments, which was nice.
When I was in adult conversation they would always say "hyt mooi arempies gebou". This made me furious, I didn't just have arms, nobody ever mentioned my legs or back. Just arms, and occasionally my chest.
Working out started to become an obsession. I was in the gym 6 days a week for an hour - every week. I dodnt want to visit friends, or even family because that messed with my workouts. First thing I would think about when someone mentioned going away I would think "how am I goingto work out"
So I got even bigger, now it was metric. I wasn't so much getting compliments anymore, now it was jealousy. "Check daai arms, hou op flex man" "nee hy park nie sy kar nie, hy tel hom sommer op". I was constantly being teased. I would stand relaxed and people would tell me to stop flexing. At the time I had a girlfriend, Alison, who I had been dating for 8 months. So we broke up, gosh I was devastated, I didn't eat much for two weeks, and didn't gym - at all. Then she started dating a fat fuuck.. This made me moer mad. Then all I started doing was working out. I'd go to school, come home, hit the gym, go home study and then gym. It was all I did.
I was still constantly being teased about my size, yeah they be mirin' and jellin' lol. So needless to say, I got into a lot of fights. If someone tuned me something, I'd knock him. This almost got me expelled, in my matric year.
Rumors then began to surface that I was on steroids - from "perde steroids" to fricken winstrol. I was clean, but hey, nobody thought that. This again was something which made me very angry, so first thing I did when I got out of school was buy steroids - I was in the mindset that I would show that clowns how I would look if I used.
That's pretty much how I got started...
Now I just gym because I am chasing the "perfect" body which will never happen. I know I'll never be happy with it.
I do take my shirt off a lot, hell every opportunity I get... Haha

Don't take my shirt off much, I just enjoy taking my body to new limits,I enjoy the results achieved after years of effort. I am very placid by nature and I'm not stirred by what people say. Passion fuels me: )

With me, its not been that skinny guy, i want the body that people look at and go wow, men get jealous and want what I have and women drool when they look at me...
every time I get called skinny it pisses me off and makes me eat and gym more.
So basically working to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing body I can build
The compliments from people who know how I used to look back, compared to now is always nice
One thing that pisses me off is when you get some stupid female who is like, where does all that food go
that pisses me off so much, I work so hard to get where I am and then they come and belittle your accomplishment

well i was fat(really fat) so i was always self conscious when it came to beach time and buying clothes.so one day i went with my dad to the gym and it all started there.Started losing all the fat and got compliments.so then i started hitting the weights and never looked back.I train now to improve my body with the hope of perfection that is not achievable.but none the less that's why i train i do it for myself and no one else.
the worst is when people who are fat give you sh*t."who wants to look like that?" "he has small person complex"

started training because i was a skinny little bugger that was teased alot. gained a bit of size after school and started getting into the "science" of training, not as hectic as some of the senior members. start to enjoy some attention. got a back opp and could not train for a while. now, my only motivation is to look good as my son gets older - basically make hom proud- and as my daughter is turninh 10 and starting to notice boys and vica versa, i want those little shits to get a fright when i open the front door. bwha ha ha - evil laugh

I was skinny, with a really bad chest and jobless as well. I managed to get some work in gardens, doing physical labor - some construction as well. I worked like a horse. Pretty soon my friends started commenting on how nicely my arms are looking. It was really cool to hear and a surprise! - that was it for me. The feeling of being healthy and getting all those compliments was amazing. I knew I had to go to gym when I could afford it. The rest is history as they say.

Dear Diary...
Used to be the skinny weak guy. Started training, got bigger and stronger, and now the guys are jelly and the bitches are 'mirin. Its easy to keep myself going as gains haven't stopped yet, and haven't reached my 110kg leanish goal yet
