Okay, I find this interesting but also very confusing. Its something nice to look into...

DG posted a link on a previous thread of mine, here is the article, www.mesomorphosis.com/articles/pharmacol...eptor-regulation.htm please read it before writing any comments.
After reading that, read this, www.mesomorphosis.com/articles/pharmacol...d-cycle-planning.htm it explains nicely why gains start slowing down as a cycle progresses etc.

After reading those articles, I have managed to confuse myself - once again.
A quick recap from what I understand after reading the articles:
•Gains do not start to slow down because of you burning out your receptors but because of two facts.
1.As you get closer to your natural limit, or above, you need more AAS.
2.Gains start to slow down as a cycle progresses because of the fact that your body is trying to bring balance. Here is an example. After pinning 1.2g test e for 10 weeks gains start to slow down, you are still gaining, but not nearly as much as at the start. This does not mean that the dose is insufficient, it simply means your body needs a break rather than just bumping up the dose. If you cruise at 250mg for 6 weeks and then go back to the 1.2g of test, you'll probably make some good gains again depending on your current size, diet, stress levels and rest.

It all makes sense. If you believe in the theories mentioned above, it means we can change the way we cycle to make the cycles more effective...

Anyway, its good info. Its a lot to take in so take your time reading it.

Yeah, its interesting. People don't like to touch topics like this one haha. Got a few more things I want to post regarding this subject but just giving the people some time to digest the articles

Shew, that was a long read... but well worth it. thanks jakes. I have wondered in the past if excess androgens (at supraphysiological levels while on-cycle) cause down-reguation of androgen receptors (ARs). It is nice to know now that this is not the case and excess androgens can actually cause an up-regulation of ARs. As you say the slowing down of gains while on AAS can be due to reaching natural physical limits or can even be due to elevated estrogen build up. I think the misconception of AR downregulation from AAS may also be attributed to the cell receptor sites not deminishing in numbers but desensitizing to excess hormone levels (the 'sensitivity' in contrast, will refer to the degree of activity each receptor has)
It is also a relief to know that AAS users that have been cycling for many years are not at risk of permanently down-regulating Androgen Receptors.

Exactly, I always thought that gains slow down due to receptor down-regulation. This clears things up a bit. Now I know that dosages do not always have to be increased.

A while back when I started that "years on cycle thread" we all believed that dosages would need to be constantly increased and when finally done you would have to start again at where you left off. Now we know this isn't true. Its refreshing to know that I can run 2g test with a gram deca a few times without having to worry about receptor down-regulation. I thought once I do that the next cycle would have to be at an even higher dose :S it had me worried

Doctari actually has a really good explanation on this in one of his posts.... Maybe admin can help find it, as i cannot seem to find the post.... He even recommended what you could use to assist with keeping receptors "open".... it had alot to do with cortisol levels... and your body trying to fight back from the gear supressing your cortisol levels.

Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

Read the articles I posted properly, cortisol levels are one of the theories that were debunked bud
