"Try and keep balance in your life and don't make bodybuilding your whole world. There's this idea that being totally obsessed and shutting out everything else in life will make you a better bodybuilder, but I think the opposite is true. Have friends and relationships, have other interests outside of the gym, and you'll be a much more well adjusted person" - Jay Cutler

I know of 2 people who do not have a life...their life is the gym and diet...Lost all their friends and now they are depressed constantly...

I was almost like that in 2007 i did not miss a training session for the entire year even went when i was sick and trained on christmas day missing a family function. I was fuckin obsessed...had 2 relationships fall through in that year as well!!!

I've learnt to live a little haha..

No lets not deadlift as I need a double hip replacement haha

i was also like that, but for much longer, if i look back at it now, it was not worth it to be so obsessed, if i could do it over, and different, i would have had a lot more opportunities, and still looked as good.

honestly, i would say that i was so obsessed to look as good as the guys in the mags i saw, well if u can make it your JOB, then obsession is good, if its a hobby not worth it to me. there is a life outside, & u get older not younger, life pass to quick, u only live once.

So true...

Balance = happiness. Thing is, achieving such a balance in the midst of ambition and drive to succeed can be tough.

Pain is weakness leaving the body

This is very true! Balance and moderation. At the end of the day everything in life has a payoff. If you are obsessed with gym and neglect the rest of your life, you will pay for it. You will look good when you are young, have many people lust after your body. Relationships will generally be shallow and if you are lucky enough to age, you will probably be lonely and sorry you did not develop better meaningful deep relationships. I trained obsessively when I was younger. I lost many things that could have been dear to me. I am now 45 years and look better than most people my age – BUT gym does not rule my life. I train 3 times a week to maintain and keep my body in shape. If I miss a session, there is always tomorrow… If I eat junk … there is always tomorrow. Enjoy your gym, but enjoy the other things life has to offer as well, beer, junk food and great sex ;)

i was almost like that until recently. irritating everyone with my dieting.
now i have gotten married plus a more demanding job,and i have seen u will only frustrate yourself and get nowhere. so pretty much train when u can and eat when u can,if u cant...chill
