I am thinking of changing industry, I am a financial advisor but getting gatvol (dont have relevant degree). I thought about doing a project management course at Unisa, or if its possible cranefield. just as a job booster.
Would you guys think something like this is a waste of time an money! and if there is relevant jobs available in lets say mining or financial sector with a advanced nq 8 Project management qualification.

What about CFP and moving into your own business?

Not really sure, but the way things are, need to be very careful about giving anything up that you're making a living out of, for something thats uncertain.

With CFP you could focus more on investment side of things for personal portfolios. Insurance will always be part of it though.

Broker consulting is well something i am very good at, but structures are changing, no more solid fixed salaries, just commision haha

Project management, is a good way to go I am also doing it , in today's life everything is a "Project" I am working in the mining/petroleum sector as Project manager focusing on the logistics part of it, I know that as a project Manager you have an holistic point of view over things but you will probably focus on the financial part of it and expand your kwoledge from there?
Go for it, great opertunities.

Have a look at the PRINCE 2, or the PMI. I currently am a Business Analyst with the PRINCE 2 foundation certification and some experience.
I see most places look for PMBOK or PRINCE 2.
I want to go into PM full time but more experience is needed.
I have lots of ideas. Trouble is, most of them suck.

Damn even broker consulting going commission only these days? Such a cut throat industry.
Maybe look into the project management-don't know a great deal about it-but I would suggest going into it slowly and weening yourself out of the insurance game

You must understand that you need to go thought the book and lean it before the course. The course is to just put thinks in perspective. There is no way you can pass just from going to the course.
Prince 2 foundation course = 3 days.
Day 1 and 2 half of day 3 = lecture, 2nd half of day 3 is the exam.
Day 4 is the practitioner lecture and day 5 is the practitioner exam.
its about R 12k for the full course I think.

Yes I saw that, thats no problem, and how did your doors open with the prince2 course? Wil nie daardie geld mors nie.
I have 3 years financial advising experience and other unrelated experience never finished my bcom law degree, financial shit in the past. Bud to be honest i have to get away from the insurance its killing me as person if you know what i mean. So thats why i thought about this, my skills are much more prone to management and creating and sustaining projects.

I got into being a BA as this was easier for me and their is a certain amount of PM work to be done. So it is easier for me to get into a full PM role

Well I did my course march last year, when the economy was in the shitter, and didn't do squat for my career. The main thing is every one wants a PM with experience, about 3-5 years is about the norm.

Well it makes sense, do you have a degree with you prince2, i also thought about BA to get into the industry and proceeding to PM.
