Bench press competition was created by spike
Any of you durbanites go along to the bench press compo at westwood mall today??

Was sponsored by SSN and Dischem and beind run by Mario van Biljon...

Figured it was worth a try to win some free supps so went along with a mate to try our strength.

Compo works like this: You weigh in and whatever your weight is, is stacked on the bar... You then see how many reps you can complete in one set. That way the big boys can compete with the smaller guys, tho it does favour the smaller framed guys obviously.

The winner racked 30 reps of 68kg (small fry ;) )
Second place did 28 reps (dunno his weight)
Third did 26 reps.

First took R1000 cash plus SSN hamper, 2nd & 3rd took SSN hamper....

And me? Well i did 25 reps of 78kg, placed 4th and took home absolutely nothing... Damn my luck, but next time i'll nail it ;)

At least i beat my mate, a pretty large chap, who did 18 reps of 95kg

Good fun tho :)

Um, but im scared of needles...

High reps aren't easy-once you go over 15 reps.

yeah its rather nice that they skew it in favour of the smaller guys, mind you last years winner did 47 reps of 92!!!

Tho the same guy did 25 reps of 103 yesterday.

Yeah the weight feels nice and light at first, but hell it starts to get ridiculously heavy

Um, but im scared of needles...

shoe, I can say for certain this does favour the small guys, and shorter guys.
