Sugars are stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen. During exercise and when carb sources are low your body converts stored glycogen to glucose using the hormone glucagon. On a keto diet, glycogen becomes depleted, esp during exercise and your body burns stored body fat as an energy source. Once a week, you have a cheat meal to restore glycogen to the muscles for the following week of trainingWhats the reason for a cheat meal

Glycogen is the molecule that functions as the secondary long-term energy storage in animal cells. It is made primarily by the liver and the muscles, but can also be made by glycogenesis within the brain and stomach.[2] Glycogen is the analogue of starch, a less branched glucose polymer in plants, and is commonly referred to as animal starch, having a similar structure to amylopectin. Glycogen is found in the form of granules in the cytosol in many cell types, and plays an important role in the glucose cycle. Glycogen forms an energy reserve that can be quickly mobilized to meet a sudden need for glucose, but one that is less compact than the energy reserves of triglycerides (lipids). In the liver hepatocytes, glycogen can compose up to 8% of the fresh weight (100–120 g in an adult) soon after a meal.[3] Only the glycogen stored in the liver can be made accessible to other organs. In the muscles, glycogen is found in a much lower concentration (1% to 2% of the muscle mass), but the total amount exceeds that in the liver. However the amount of glycogen stored in the body, especially within the red blood cells[4][5][6] liver & muscles, mostly depends on physical training, basal metabolic rate and eating habits such as intermittent fasting. Small amounts of glycogen are found in the kidneys, and even smaller amounts in certain glial cells in the brain and white blood cells. The uterus also stores glycogen during pregnancy to nourish the embryo.[7]

Over the past 2 weeks or so, my weight hasn't varied by anything more than 500grams - strange.

this is not only a case for keto diets sting,if u are doing a carb cycling diet u can get yourself really depleted quite quickly by doing HIIT cardio ontop of your normal weight training...though when dieting this is not such a good idea unless your pre and post HIIT cardio nutrition is that of a work out...if doing a carb cycling diet with a cheat meal/day i suggest doing a no carb day the day before and to do 1 x 20mins cardio session at 75%-85% effort on a cross trainer/orbitrek to make sure that u are 100% depleted for the feed the following day...
