supplement delivery detained by sars

I recently ordered some supplements from the uk and now I leanr that it got detained by the sars custom official in dbn. Does anyone know if there is a chance of me clearing the delivery?

If its not illegal substances don't see why not.

I think they will clear it... They sometimes detain supps and after inspection they clear it, but you will have to pay their fees obviously...

SARS informed me that we are not even allowed to order Disprin from overseas and bring it into the country. According to them supplements (as they are a concoction of several ingredients) fall under the import of medicine. What irritates me is that its probably dependent on the official who does the inspection. I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now for my delivery. They said they may send it back

South African customs are 1 of THE strictest in the world,i have much experience with them,apart from the fact that you might never get your stuff,if they do release it,you will pay through your arse in excise and duty fees.The best thing for you to do is fight with them everyday until they get gatvol of you.Or just write off your losses and buy local.

What shipping method did you use? Normally if use a courier they will clear it at customs also. I once ordered stuff and used normal post and the same thing happened to me.

it got sent via registered mail (royal mail). Flip im so sick of them. They must at least send it back then instead of wasting my time

Royal mail... I've used them before, but the thing is that they and all other postal services hand the parcel over to SAPO once it arrives here. They then do random checks on parcels and also use sniffer dogs to determine which parcels to open.

Customs like to open parcels with a commercial value as well, so sending it as a gift or sample might help.

I have a couple of tricks to get it past customs more easily, but you will have to pay me for that bit of info... lol
