Man dies on treadmill at VA was created by North_Boy1
Despite a death at a Joburg gym, enthusiastic fitness fanatics continued to work out while the body lay on the gym floor, covered by a silver sheet, with white screens placed around it.

A middle-aged man died on Wednesday morning at the Southgate Virgin Active while working out on a treadmill.

The man, whose identity has not been made known, appeared to have had a heart attack.

The club's general manager, Paul Sekhukhuni, confirmed the death, but said in terms of Virgin Active's protocols and strict privacy conditions he could not give details.

He said staff, paramedics and the police had all responded quickly to the emergency.

If everybody does it, is it still cheating?

Some people take their gymming seriously, if there was nothing I could do, probably would have finished my session.... :)

VA really takes service seriously!
They let you continue training even with a corpse (no disrespect :) ) laying there on the ground. (Will this count negatively on their health inspection ?)

Difficult situation, you can't chase the members out, and you can't drag the poor deceased guy away

i think the problem with people is that they just happy it wasnt them, and if they try to help, someone will think they did something to start it, "maybe if i dont look at it, it will go away" or the best "dont make your problems mine ok"... pretty sad actually.

but then we also have a morbid curiosity with death, just look at the hiway when there is an accident, not even on your side of the road, but the traffic is backed up for at least 10km... but we have passed 2 offramps and dont take them, just to see what the hell happened...

At VA when you join you do a complete medical questionaire, but it's not compulsory.

If everybody does it, is it still cheating?

I never got even the option to do a medical, not that I would have bothered. Neither did I at Fitnees First in the UK, which was like 3 years ago.

How shit were the gyms in the UK, was like training in a box comapred to the gym I'm at right now....
