Phlegm: Smoking produces into smokers twice phlegm as who don’t smoke. This reduces air intake, causing by chronic swelling of the mucus membranes.
Carbon Monoxide: This has negative effects in your body. Carbon monoxide reduces the amount of air intake of the lungs, and the amount of oxygen that the muscles receive from the blood. Oxygen is important for the functioning of all energy systems in the body, so any mechanism which interferes with oxygen transport and uptake interferes with energy production, and therefore, athletic performance.
Testosterone: Research shows that cigarette smoking damages cells in the testes - the cells that synthesize testosterone. Testosterone levels within the body govern the muscle growth process from training. Thus, smoking may well hinder optimal testosterone production and interfere with the body’s capacity to build muscle.

I`ve always believed you can train a smoker to be a bodybuilder even though cardio might suffer but a drinker is impossible...

I tend to disagree with you big time ! Speaking of personal experience.....

I quit (heavy) drinking for 3 months at end February and in that 3 months I gained 5 kgs and lost 5% BF. Went from 85kg to 90kg and today still on 90kg.

Ou Pompie, die Curriebeker word nie in Augustus gewen nie.
Your guys peaked and are on the downward curve at this stage, and there is still a slight chance that you will pick up the Cheetahs in the play-offs.............
The best team will win the Currie Cup this year, and whoever it might be, PLEEEEEASE !!!! No whining about forward passes, the biased ref, bully tactics.
Let's be true Sportsmen and supporters.
P.S. 00Pump I still like you.
:cheers
