What is head shaving about and why do it?

How many of you guys out there shave your head and why?

I shave my head bold once a week... I have no specific reason for shaving my head but it started when I was younger and used to drive around allot on my motorcycle on the farm; my hear used to get dirty very quickly and I hated the dust on my head...

I'm also not into spending allot of time grooming myself and I have no interest in fashion at all. eg. I used to wear rugby shorts, t-shirts and vellies (leather shoes used on the farm) with my shaven head when I was studying in Potchefstroom... I still remember the looks I got when I first walked onto the pukke campus... they thought I was a spy for "Die Pampoenboere" collage and feared me like hell... :laugh:

I still shave my head as I think it suits me and I don't know any better...
Some guys shave their heads for all kinds of reasons including; practical, religious, cultural, or aesthetic reasons. Practical reasons include work safety or comfort, lice prevention, grooming simplicity and preparation for surgery.

Why do or don't you shave your head?

My head has been shaved for the past 8 years . (I grew it back once or twice)

I shave my head because I prefer the way it looks and feels.
Plus I dont have to worry about waking up and doing my hair.
Wake up and go.

For me it looks better and feels better.
I also have a receeding hair line that started in high school. Its not too bad , but I rather keep it shaved.


I go to the barber once every 3 weeks to have it shaved with proper blade.

I prefer it when they shave against the grain . That way you head does not stick to everything.

(I know you can now by those head razors , have you tried it? do you miss peices?)

i used to have plaited hair and then woek up one morning and shaved it all off. i 've grown to hate the feel of hair on my head. it feels unkempt, even when you comb it. a nice shiny kop is the way to go...cheap and easy to maintain and hair makes my head and neck look smaller.

Isn't the reason for most BB shaving their heads the fact that they loose hair because or roid use?

Yes, DHT speeds-up male pattern baldness... I'm genetically very prone to baldness, but have not shown much signs yet... Baldness is very common on both sides of my family.

There is medication for it . I know of one guy who had hereditary hair lost and does BB.

He takes medication (forgot the name) that stops hairloss in its track.

Mine is hereditary , Wish there was something I could take to bring back my long shiny golden hair (jokes)
But nothing has worked.

I shave my head, always have, I hate hair.

If I could pop a pill and *poof* all my hair could be gone i would be a happy chappy.

Finpecia / Propcia (Finasteride)

If I remember correctly , Finpecia / Propcia is pretty expensive..

R250 a month is nothing.

But I read the Propcia may cause bitch tits. Will read up of on the rest later..

one time i could not get to the barber shop, and my hair was getting longer and longer iritating me, then i stripped myself, and cut it all off, well never again coz i looked like a poes kop!!!

some guys look good with no hair, but not me.

Finpecia is generic Propecia (1mg Finasteride)
Fincar5 is generic Proscar (5mg Finasteride)

Medical aid won't pay for Finpecia/Propecia as it's for cosmetic use, they will pay for Proscar/Fincar5.

Ask you doctor for a script of Fincar5 and then cut them into four (1.25mg).

This will give you a four month supply for about R230 (R60/month), if you have medical aid it will propbably be for free.

I do not shave my head but cut my hair very short (no.2) because I have a receding hairline and also started to get gray hair. I just think it's more practical and looks better than long hair trying to cover the bald spots. And my hair gets curly when longer. How rediculous this will look!
On the subject of Finpecia: I got some from my supplier but I'm not using it. Apparently it inhibits 5-Alpha reductase to stop the conversion in the liver from test to DHT.
Now when on a cutting cycle and using DHT derivatives like Winnie or Primo/Masteron does this not render these steroids ineffective?

Just started shaving my head again and let me tell you guys what a pleasure, no f!@#$$%%^g around with gel and what not , when i wake up its done , when i go to sleep its done, so much less stress.

Only prob my Mrs does not like it and her parents think i look like an escape convict, too bad, the other lots of fluff at gym dig it i had two birds start tryiNg to chat me up at the gym the very day i shaved it off, chicks do dig it big time! Maybe thats why my Mrs really does not like it.

I think i know the reason though, here is my theory.

We as men love woman with long beatiful flowing locks of hair, we find that a turn on and are attracted to it, now on the opposite side of the coin is the male with a shaved head, we are the most extreme masculine males out there and woman in turn are drawn to that.

Yep, women keep begging me to shave mine. Met one who said she'd tend to my member if I did. I'm keen to, in time, but for now I've grown it for so long I just don't wanna say goodbye yet...

P.S. How do you expect me to head bang without a mullet :blush:
