Pre workout NO was created by Wayne
Hi guys. I happened to see a bottle of isosorbide dinitrate at home(think the mum-in-laws) so was reading the packaging and see that it is a vasodialator...NO booster...now...in theory, would that not make a pretty effective preworkout? I do have high bp so the drop in bp that it causes may be good for me? Not sure, any of the well respected knowledgeable gurus on here with some input? Before I try something silly...lol

I found it to be an interesting read but I would not use it.
Are you on treatment already for BP Wayne?

The Nitrates work by breaking down to Nitrous Oxide (NO), another name for this is "Endothelium derived relaxing factor or EDRF). Your capillaries release this to cause the smooth muscle cells to relax, thereby causing vasodilation. It won't be much as a pre-workout booster, rather, it will only cause vasodilation, i.e. a pump.

Their main indication is for Angina Pectoris which "heart" pain associated with exertion. The heart is unable to get enough oxygen for itself.

S/E's are headache (due to the increase in cranial blood flow, but a tolerance to this gets built up quickly) flushing and potential hypotension. It will give a "pump" just not sure how much. You can try a half initially and see how it goes. One or two a week shouldn't give any complications but I wouldn't go with more. This is exactly the same effect caused by sniffing poppers (popular in the club scene 20-30 years back). Most of the time that was Amyl Nitrate.

There are better compounds you can use like 5mg Sildenafil (Cialis), the PDEIV inhibitors give an awesome pump.

But, be careful as there is very little evidence base for this as this is definitely not in their indications

Good judgement comes from experience.
Experience comes from bad judgement.
