Marius DOHNE stage 5 kidney failure. was created by Empire
Hey guys.

I don't know if you all have seen the news floating around social media that has been broadcast by annelize DOHNE, but Marius has been admitted to hospital to icu for immediate dialysis for stage 5 kidney failure as well as diabetes treatment.

Would like to hear what you guys think about this urgent call for financial help and aid by him and his wife?

At one stage marius claimed that his kidneys had been healed by the work of George Farah as well as the Lord, and this is clear that it isn't the case.

Do you feel that he should be allowed to openly ask for financial aid when this has been an on going thing since 2011? Surely if he knew the problem he would have financially prepared himself for this situation?

It is a very shit position for a South African legend to be in but do we not see a Marco Rossi situation here? I do feel for him,his family and his loved one as I don't think anyone should go through such health issues at such a young age.

Does anyone know what the real cause is for his kidneys issues? Is it genetics? Drug abuse? Would be interested to hear comments on this.

What comments are you looking for? Whatever he said/did, whether he made bad decisions with his money, etc, does it matter? If he needs financial assistance, there is no harm and nothing wrong with asking for help! There is no question or debate there! As for what caused his kidney failure...it would be speculation on our part...wouldn't it...and first culprit would be "abuse of juice"?!!

I am not saying there is any harm in asking, I personally donated money, because I feel for him and his family as I wouldn't like to be in any position similar to this leaving my family in financial troubles, And that Is why I asked if anyone knew the real reason behind his kidney issues to dispel any speculation. The reason I have asked how people have felt about the openly asking for financial aid is because there is going to be alot of people stating it was self inflicted and it isn't right to ask for financal aid, as that is already stirring around the gym this morning. I just wanted to see others opinions on this.

We are all allowed our opinions and I just wanted to see how others felt on this situation as there has been alot of debate around his health concerns for a very long time, even on the international boards, such as muscular development, marius has caught alot of heat for this subject and I do believe it was Shawn Ray that even said to him years ago that this would inevitably happen.

Marius has done alot for this industry and has achieved massive accolades in many federations and if this is a cause of his death it will be a very sad day in bodybuilding for South Africa.

I'm sure you know the answer .. I don't believe in the Lord healing your kidneys, but it's simple I was stage 3 and stopped using gear and went back down to stage 1 (I could say this was the lord or I can see this was a smart decision to take action)... Once the kidneys start to strain you in shit. I can not take anti inflammatory medication, diuretics are a huge no go, unless they an extremely mild loop diuretic, but that would need to be done with bloods to determine potassium levels. Also when your kidneys are in early stages, you can consume large amounts of water, the later stages, you need to pull back on water as you adding strain to them. I have had to drop my protein to 220 grams a day MAX, which makes it impossible for me to even consider packing on mass, so if his kidneys were at stage 3 and up, then he would not be able to consume the levels of protein required to sustain his physique unless one is using large amounts of AAS to prevent muscle breakdown, but then you in a catch 22.

When I was deep in stage 3 it was the hardest time of my life to control my blood pressure, as blood pressure just causes to kidneys to further regress which causes the BP to stay elevated, I landed up using 5 different blood pressure medications at the max dosage to keep it controlled and that was without putting gear in me. End of the day when your kidneys start to pack up, you throw in the towel...

I feel sorry for the guy, I couldn't imagine having to be on dialysis, when I go to see my nephrologist and I see the people waiting for their turn, it's like looking at death...

Well I much appreciate the educated response on that, now I see that he has become diabetic too, do you think this has any relation to the kidney failure or is it completely separate? Surely the diabetes would be affecting his regeneration process with all organs and tissues?

I had no idea about taking in to much fluid being an issue, shit. Well then surely that would affect him leading into a show where he would have to water load and drop water etc putting additional strain on the kidneys even if he was not taking diuretics?

Wow the blood pressure part alone would cause increased pressure on the kidneys let alone anything else he was going through.

I do feel for the guy. It's a shit position to be in.

That is a catch 22 on it's own, both have effects on each other, however, if he became type 1 diabetic and never picked it up, you can get something called diabetic kidney disease, which too can eventually cause kidney failure if not picked up early enough. But again, this is pure speculation if he used these drugs, but abnormal levels of IGF and hGH play a role in that of diabetes. Again, which came first the chicken or the egg example.. So many factors combined could have lead him to where he is now, the end of the day, pull out when your health starts to give in, and if you lucky enough by the grace of God or medical assistance be able to revert back to a more healthier you, don't go put yourself back in harms way, because then you looking for shit.. The kidneys cannot heal themselves, but your stage in kidney failure can vary depending on hydration/muscle wasting/etc. You will have higher GFR readings while on steroids, that is guaranteed, stop using them it will come down.
