tennis elbow? or something worse? was created by opfor
Hi All
I have recently started experiencing excruciating pain in my right elbow. The inside point of the joint all the way round to the top of my forearm. Have any of you experienced this? And what do you suggest as a method for recovery. I have tried mybulen, panamor and rubbing iceman around the affected area. The pain isnt constant, but comes and goes depending on what I train. Presses are ok, but curls are a nightmare.

I get this if I do heavy curls with a straight bar. Suspect it's some inherent anatomical issue. Try an EZ bar or dumbbells or hold the straight bar across the side of your hands, almost as if you're doing hammer curls

Hi Opfor
Try training around it for a few weeks either by avoiding excersises that aggravate it or if you have to do them drop the weight down for awhile and do higher reps or slow negatives to stimulate the muscle. Using the preacher bench or conc curls should also take some strain off the elbow. Might help to get a joint support supplement to take if after a few weeks there is no improvement I would have it checked out. Focus on the legs a bit more till its sorted itself out.

Cables are also a bit easier on the joints.

Oh holy hell - YES!!!
I found if I curled with a DB and squeezed my upper forearm with my other hand,
even pressing my thumb into the place it hurt most actually reduced the pain.
Not a solution but pinpointed the spot i.e. tendon that attaches to the medial epicondyle of the humerus.
Golfer's elbow, or medial epicondylitis.
I eventually decided it was an imbalance between muscle strength & tendon strength.
I've had it multiple times. And it went away on its own over time. PAINFUL TIME!!
Go see an sports massage therapist or clued physio!!

Thanks Guys
I'm taking off some time on that joint and training something else while it heals. Ive started a course of K-Fenak, 1 pill thrice daily for five days. At least the inflammation will be adressed. Massaging the spot and will wait for time to mend.
Definitely going to see a physio or biokineticist as well.

I had this before i went lighter MUCH lighter on my sets and eventually i started tucking my thumb behind the dumbell as in next to my other fingers if that makes sense... this also helped alot (takes alot of getting used to) i was told by my physio it is because i dont balance the weight evenly accross my hand and that is what puts strain on it and thats why tucking ur thumb behind evenly distributes weight... i also found in my case that ez-bars and straight bars made it worse but im not sure if u have the same im just giving u my experience
