Some people carry a gene that makes them very resistant to almost immune to the virus....
In another case an hiv positive man recieved a bone marrow transfusion, from a person with this gene.
After the transfusion, the virus could not be detected in his blood for 600 days....
If i remeber correctly, there is something in clinical trails, which the hope would be a cure.
Basically comes down to gene modification....

Reason I say that is aids is not the problem people are the problem we need people to change there behavior not a cure imagin how will just say oh well ill sleep with this girl or guy cos if I get Aids I just get the cure . Now I know people that really need the cure is people that get raped and ect. The world population need's some kind of defense to control human number's from sky rocketing . I wish they would find a cure for cancer sooner rather later as it affects more people with out a choice .
I also think there is too much people on this planet, what concerns me most in this case is doctors and other medical personellwho contract the virus from helping hiv positive patients....

Yeah, they mention this in the study. He had both leukemia and HIV. They gave him a stem cell transplant from someone born with the immunity.
I'm noticing a common thread - gene manipulation seems to be the focus of most research.
However, in this case, the infant only had the ARV's. No other treatment.
Can't wait to see what advancements are made

So you want HIV to remain to solve the population crisis yet you want a cure for cancer...
Sorry guys Apparently it is true, cause its happened to certain people already, so I’m not taking any chances !!

I remember that story. I thought he was cured. What happened after the 600 days? Was the HIV detectable again?

I honestly dont know, but it is possible that at the time of publishing the last tested point was 600 days.
@ Oom jack, there is a lot of space, but not alot of food. Its like polititians in my country, who are moaning about a slow population growth rate.
Why would you want more people if the majority is going to grow up poor. Rather have less people, who are better off....
In honestly dont know, why people have children, if the parents cant offer their children a better life with better prospects than the one they (the parents) had. But thats just my view.... i am drifting of topic here.

As someone mentioned above we dont have a population problem, we have a resource problem. We could probably fit in another 50 million people in the Northern Cape alone, its providing water, electricity and fossil fuel to these people that is the problem
Wayne wrote: ok...bashing the guy about not wishing for a cure for aids...but, and a very big but...from a "religious" aspect, he is correct in that if ppl practiced "God's word" and had sex with one partner when married only, there would be no aids! So yes ppl need to change their "sexual behavior" to follow the teachings of God... I think thats what he was getting at!
Noone's bashed the guy's opinion, I just highlighted some inconsistencies in his thought process.
