I wouldn't risk it, keep it clean for 10days, it's permanent, so make it count :-)

Ever seen skin rashes from sweaty gym equipment ? just imagine what your tattoo will look like

Everyone using the gym equipment will leave behind bacteria from their skin contacting the equipment and if you train with a fresh tattoo I can understand how that will increase your risk of an infection. So yes, follow the advice you've been given.

I myself have many tattoos, and they have never given me an issue with regards to training when they have been fresh, just keep a close eye out,

Bepanthen® Ointment. you can't go wrong

i'd say 3 - 5 days, after that all should be fine to train. I normally tattoo on a Thursday back in gym Mon/tues

Thanks for all the replies guys
I was also told to cling wrap it before I shower but reading online says its ok to expose it to the shower provided its not soaked in a tub or pool or directly in line with the spray of the shower. Most of them also wash it daily with a mild soap like dove which I initially did to remove blood and plasma. Just wash using fingers however I bb'd the tattoo artist today and he is adamant to keep it cling wrapped during shower.

From those with tatts which is right.

From those with abs, which is right, HIIT ir LISS
For those with cars, which is right, Ford or Toyota?

The truth is, either is just fine (I've done the cling wrap and omitted it with the same results).
In this case, do what your artist suggests as he is the most knowledgeable resource you have at your disposal and you will sleep better if you follow his tips rather than ours.

What tattoo did you get btw?

Also looking at getting a portrait of my son, just don't have a lot of space left. Was thinking maybe on the back.
Good luck with your tattoo, its an awesome and addictive experience!
