pricked by a used needle

Hi all
This morning after I injected my gym partner I got pricked by the same needle on my thumb. As I put on the cap for the needle, it went on diagonally and pierced the plastic cover and pricked me in the thumb which caused me to bleed. My partner is a healthy 33 year old. Am I worrying over nothing or am I at risk.

Howzit, if your friend has any diseases that are of concern he should inform you about it.

If the needle you used has had any blood in or on it there is a small chance that some sort of transmission might take place, but with this said chances of picking up anything from your friend is less than 1%.

If your friend is RVD + or has Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C then you should see your GP ASAP. Other than that there is no concern what so ever.

Go to your clinic now and get on arv's your obviously worried by opening a thread. Not even juice stopes a slow puncture.

Or just get a blood sample of your mate's tested for HIV and hepatitis? Cheaper and less dramatic than doing ARVs unnecessarily.

Ye I agree with MA. I was just meaning that short cycle of arv's they give rape victims. even though your probable 99 percent fine rather safe than sorry.
