If you don't have a degree or a diploma it is worth going for. a+ and the n+ is a good place to start. It all depends in which IT path you want to go, if you tell me I can help you out

I went the network route with Cisco: ccna, ccnp ccie. That was a longtime ago, have been in networking my whole life and enjoy it. You can self study the ccna and ccnp. Definitely worth it if starting out in the working world.

If you have Routerboard and RouterOS experience already you have a huge advantage over the average laaitie that just finished his courses.

OK thanks for the client premise equipment we use ubiquiti so i have alot of experience when it comes to configuring them.

Also this has nothing to do with the topic i created but is it possible for you to make a thread that has educational books with regards to AAS like anabolics 2k or the laymans guide ect and also links or something where we could download them?

Well to be honest, I find that in the market more HP switches than CISCO, also if you are doing it to do network installs of routers, then yes, that is the only time we see a huge amount of CISCO. The end of the day the market is difficult, everyone has their ABC's of computers, the best is to be able to do them all. EG, code, databases, windows servers, linux servers, networking, etc..

But I refuse to hire anyone that isn't jacked, even as a junior. I have waisted enough time with people that do not have a clue, not even understanding what a VLAN is, it just goes over their heads.

You need to make sure you know what you want to do first, if you want to stick to networking then continue in that avenue, however everyoone is trying to undercut everyone else, and how advance is networking really? Unless you using BGP, which you are hardly going to see many roll outs in this manner, you going to be doing basic networking..

The biggest thing you going to need to know is beyond the scope if you really want to hit any field hard of what the courses cover and thats troubleshooting. The rest is easy, anyone can follow a howto to get something up and running the true skill comes in when something stops working, either being able to fix it in a heart beat, or have a DR solution in place.

Use it don't use it.
