Anyone wants Private Messaging?

I was wondering if you would be interested in an encrypted private messaging system that's also integrated into the forum. It works in a similar way to the messaging systems on other forums like BB.com

My only concern is that some of our members will get flooded by messages every day and that people will resort to private messaging instead of using the public forum for questions.

Please share your thoughts on the matter.

i guess PM would be a winner coz then u could get answers to questions that you feel to shy/stupid to ask in the forum... also it gives people a chance to meet others from the AAS.co.za community,i mean Kraz and i have become friends through this site...always greatful to meet and get advice from others...and IMO kraz is a decent cat...good true mate to be honest..

Admin, I know it is a hassle, but what I would love to see, is a system where very good, informative threads get sorted to specific subject headings in the site's archives. In that way, people can go and search for info on certain subjects and see what has already been discussed. Duplication will be minimized...

Yeah, that's why I wanted everyone to "vote" about this... PM would be a nice addition to the site, but it will also kill the forum.

I got over a 100 emails in a single day last month... so I've started sending people to the forum, just to make my workload lighter and to reduce all the duplicate questions I get every day.

That is actually not very difficult to do... in fact I saw a plugin this afternoon that is capable of doing something similar. I will definitely look into this.

some sort of pm system would be nice...do you think that it would be possible to have a pm service where you can give the answering party the ability to post the pm annonomesly so that the readers dont know who actualy posted the question?or another thing perhaps....create a chat room and lets say a topic per week........this week the topic is cardio and the next week is supplements.

This forum software does allow anonymous messages, but I disabled it to prevent people from abusing it.

I did discuss a live chat room with Precision, Eco, MxT and my site designer back when I was considering starting this website, but I decided against it. I felt that it will not be used very often.

You are still welcome to create your own topic every week to chat about a certain subject and if it contains useful info I will make it a sticky like Doctari suggested.

topic of the week idea is a really good thing to do and guys can post interesting articles and links that they have heard of and read...think thats a better option...

PM would be nice, BUT i would rather post a question, look stupid (if thats the case) but get multiple angles on a solution then just one
