Went grocery shopping today. Is it just me or are food prices becoming totally ridiculous? Its definitely a very worrying factor....

She is a monster....I know its not cheap but if u shop at butcheries for meat and eggs it does make things slightly cheaper if u have cheap enough butchers around... The rest is still a killer for the pocket

Dont get me started on Walmart, still cant believe they were allowed to takeover Massmart. They will destroy our GDP and food prices will only be cheap in the shortrun, in the long run after they've put everyone else out of business prices will be sky high

Sorry guys Apparently it is true, cause its happened to certain people already, so I’m not taking any chances !!

I couldn't agree more, we also spend around R5/R6 k a month, however guys wife and i have been buying our meet from Macro in Woodmead JHB.... to give you guys some ideas

Rump @ Pick and pay = R98 p/kg as at Macro it's R78p/kg
Sirloin @ Pick and pay = R98 p/kg as at Macro it's R78p/kg
Fillet @ p&p = R150 p/k as at Macro its R112.

tuna is also ridiculously cheap as you buy in bulk i think you can only buy a pack of 6 tins and it works out much cheaper.

and the mince is also around R20/R30 cheaper.

also the meat is freshly cut.... maybe give them a try....

Find a good Butcher and negotiate a price based upon the quantities you order.

I pay R32.50/kg Chicken Breasts, fantastic quality.
R70/kg Sirloin Steak Yes A Grade.

The rest just buy on special at Spar or P&P when they are on its usually at least once a month you get deals on Tuna etc. Buy bulk at Makro and save further.

Is this in Jhb?
Which butcher is this?

I don't want to be paying 53R/kg at PnP anymore.

What's the price of bulk Tuna at Makro Woodmead?
It's around 10R/can at PnP. It's on special till Sunday R6.99/can. 170g - 119g drained.
