Which part of the country were you in?

was in namibia, aranos.

Not really big kudu country... thought you would be hunting gemsbok over there...

the farm we were on had loads of decent size kudu. Yes there was gemsbok, rooi bok, zebra, blouwille bees, can't remember what else... I must say it was more of a challenge going after the kudu.. Mine was the smallet. The biggets weighed in at 175 I think. A lot of people don't know gemsbok and would rather shoot kudu and springbok.

correct... But if you think about it, R28 is a good price. We got it at 20 because we know the owner. So I'm sure normal asking price is round there...

Enjoy the biltong etc!

By the way, do you guys eat biltong while on cycle, or do you skip it due to high salt content? Just wondering, if one could make biltong with very low salt content, would this be ideal "snack" to get some quality protein in, or am I just waffling now?

I do chow on biltong. Infact I hung some last night. I have a small cabnet that holds about 2kgs at a time. Also, I took a 'dry buddy' that glomail jobbie that dries your clothes... I hang about 10kgs of biltong in it an zip it up. Blows warm dry air from the bottom and out the top. It works fantastic!

bud the extra water you gain from salt is actually good for muscle building. Not sure why people are so scared of gaining water unless they are gonna step on stage soon.

Yea i personally couldn't care less about water retention unless it starts interfering with blood pressure, for the average joe not competing a little water retention is awesome IMO

Rather let someone else answer all I know its very good for strength gains which results in muscle gains, but for me its because I look fuller faster, I dunno maybe I'm weird but I like the feeling lol

Rhino wrote: It's a new mince woolies does and it's like R28 for 500g. Anyone tried it?

I havnt seen this but I bought their ostrich burgher patties the other night for around R36 , also high protein low fat - excellent stuff.
Thing with woolies is they often start a line at a very good price, if it works they half the portion and up the price.. Fukrs..
They did this with the egg whites.. so I stopped buying from them and buy a litre now from Dischem at R64.

We are able to go to friends farm for free, take what we want, obviously not a stupid amount as its not really respectful...
usually end up making 10kg's of biltong, eating half the meat there on the farm, and coming back with 20kg's worth of springbok, meat already stripped...

Blesbok is to this day the closest shot I have ever taken. Got to about 10m, shortly after that, and surprisingly, mountain reedbok at about 15-20m ... Blesbok aren't the sharpest.

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.
