No. Unless you add the oil to a slow cooker, the heat will burn away all the beneficial fats.

In the same way, you can destroy the proteins in eggs or chicken if you overcook it.

Thanks for replies guys! I want to add more calories in the form of fats rather than carbs. I will rather cook my food in water and add the oil over the finished food then.

Does one still need to take the calories into account?

Heating food to the point of cooking it actually has a profound affect on it. The method and degree that a food is heated can change micro's and macro's. Note the phenomenal difference in caloric value of vegetables between cooked and raw, even micro-nutrients are lost in the process.

Now proteins and fats also undergo change. As Eidolon said, protein is lost in overcooking chicken and eggs, in actual fact it spreads broader than just that. When you cook your meat and it's all "charcoally", I would say their remains little to protein value is left in that piece. Of course you should still cook meat to make it digestible and easily absorbed. Micro-nutrients are lost very quickly when you overcook food. (I f**king cringe when I hear people micro-waving whey and eggs and calling it a protein muffin)

As for fats, you should be counting oil used in cooking although it becomes very difficult to judge actual consumption because some oil will get left in the pan(or what ever). You should also be counting the calories in your supplements (Omgega's ect). I find it's easier to just cook with dry heat/ steaming and adding oils after if I need to get macro's right. Also, oils loose flavour when cooked. As long as the oil doesn't smoke, count the calories and micro's. When it smokes it becomes dangerous to your health as well.

Hope the insight helps bra.

Yea man, no telling how much (if not all) nutritional value is lost.

Snap dude. As a rule I try to keep away from the microwave. I know whey is especially sensitive to heat, I used to put it in my freshly cooked oats - now I only add it to cold oats. I don't know at what temperature it starts to degrade though, just trying to keep safe.
