White meat vs Red meat was created by beemer
Hi All,

I know white meat (fish, chicken, etc) is good, and high in protein, but how important is red meat? And what is classified as red meat?

Thanks :)

Imo its better than white meat. I'd rather look like an ox than a chicken ;). Maybe DJ knows the amino acid profiles, but what I can tell you is that red meat(steak, lamb, beef) is higher in fat than chicken or fish.

Not sure about pork though bud.

Lets go!

if you use red meat use beef lean mince and beef steaks should be sirloin fat cut off. dont use lamb, goat or pig. its too fatty

If working on body and character doesnt cost you something its woth noting. If criticism is all that proceed out of your mouth then know that is how you feel about yourself and depicts the health of your soul.

Ey man Red Meat ROCKS!!! Lol love it... But they do say too much red med affects cholesterol....

Chops = Lamb/Mutton = Fatty (but tastes so dam good.... Maybe for a cheat?)

Pork = from what I read the meat itself is lean and great protein as its very similar to what we are composed of, but you must remove the fat!

Boerewors/sausage = High fat content in most cases. Unless you have a butcher that will make it with lean mince!

when you eat it at a braai then take of all fat from the chops try not to eat spek-wors but try eating more traditional type wors that doesnt have too much fat in it bit that is going to be difficult. maybe treat the braai meal as your cheat meal for the week. thats now if your trying to loose fat. but if you are bulking its maybe not so bad.

I saw on one of the Doc shows on DSTV that they said red meat is important source of complete protein and that you should atleast eat a portion of red meat every 3 days. Thats for normal people that do not have the nutritional needs of BB and that recommendation was purely to stay healthy.

So then (aside from sausage), red meat is good as long as you remove the fat?

no not all red meat is good. beef is the best. if you can get wild antilope meat like koedoe or rooibok or springbok its better but its difficult to get year round and at massive quantities. these meat has virtually no fat.

pork, mutton, goat meat is loaded with fat even if you cant see it on the outside.

pork meat is sometimes full of parasites you cant see and some of the parasites cant even be killed when you braai the meat dead.

so stick to lean beef. its best.

If you are wondering how good certain meat is,think of how fast it is in nature!Let's say fish-moves fast(less fat),cow-walks around whole day eating slowly(lots of fat storage in meat),some springbok-gets chased by lions hahaha fast moving(less fat stored),chicken-fast movements(low fat)

Universal has a product called beef aminos. It gives you the amount and ratios of aminos found in beef. For somebody that prefer not to eat allot of red meat maybe it is a good product to look into

I know that beef have fat in between the meat and chicken and pork has a fat layer on top of the meat. Any wild animal will have less fat as thy need to find there own food and always moving around freely.

Fish with white meat has less fat but fish with darker meat has more fat in them but mostly good fats.
